I have chosen to use
one of my own hand dyed
fabrics

Right now I am Kantha Stitching it to the
background muslin page..
I am planning an all "white on white"
heart
of some sort;
using laces and saved
special fabrics from my
Crazy Quilting...
But,,,,
Still thinking out
how to set this up for the
heart embellishment...

Today is muggy-ish;š
we drove to our local State Park
beach where I walked
in from the parking lot
to sit on a bench while Tom
did his longer walk...
It was wreathed in fog...
Unfortunately, the sand fleas
and flies drove me back to
wait in our car...
so much for the best laid plans...
š
Also tom cut his walk shorter than
usual as he met up with
two big black snakes
sunning themselves on the
boardwalk..UGH!!
[Somedays are just like that...šæ]

Delete2 big black snakes might keep me from going back there to walk ever again! Your peony bloom is beautiful. The white and palest pinks are my favorites.
ReplyDeletehaha love your quote in the first comment. The quilt blocks may be large but I somehow think they will work in a lap quilt because of the smaller pieces.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could grow peonies in south Florida, they are one of my favorites.
Don't worry. The Many Trips quilt will look just fine in a lap size. Especially if you keep the red as the big diagonals. That will pull it all together. And your peonies are beautiful. Ours are almost ready to pop in Western Mass.
ReplyDeleteYour walk on the beach sounded lovely until I read about the black snakes and sand fleas/flies! We dont have any snakes here to worry about but we have plenty of biting sand flies, which all make their way to me when we are sitting outside. Something to do with the person's blood type, I have read, they certainly have a preference, and I have it!

ReplyDeleteThose blocks might look fine on a lap quilt. Maybe change the orientation of each 36 square block. Sorry about the walk. That happens to us alot at the beach when it is muggy. Thankfully not the snakes. I like your dyed fabric. I am looking forward to seeing that heart.

I didn't know there were big black snakes here in the NE. Just remind Tom they eat the sand fleas. And prob do not bite humans. As for sand fleas--you keep them up there in Conn, we do not have them here and don't want them. What are they?

ReplyDeleteI like your scrappy trips blocks. I like the same red/white combo in the middle. Yeah bugs are wicked this year. Black flies, and ticks are rampant around here. Never had ticks before around here.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty peony! I have my first blossoming peony. The blocks look great. They don't look too big to me but you can tell better than me. It's been so cold. I didn't stay outside too long. I had to wear my jacket.

ReplyDeleteI don't think those quilt blocks are too large but maybe you would like them better if they were separated by some sort of sashing? Don't ask me though, because you know I'm not a sane quilter!
ReplyDeleteI think your TATW blocks look great - the red really makes them pop! Maybe if you used a different setting than the traditional "around the world" look they wouldn't appear so huge to your eye? Love your idea for the fabric journal page - looking forward to seeing what you do! Mmmm - peonies! They don't grow here, so I can just drool over pictures.
