I always have to have (it seems ;}}}) a string-strip project going.....
I love this tulip made with strings...
Do you remember my two baskets-- filled with scraps and strips???
Instead of sorting them out, I decided to just pull out the
colors I liked today for this string TULIP...
I have had this book for YEARS, eons, a long, long time anyway....
And the picture on the cover-- and also the quilt that
Audrey at Quilty Folk ,had made a while back,
got on my list of blocks to try...
So.....
I cut traced and cut out telephone book papers for the parts.....
and
here are the fabrics that I pulled out of those messy baskets....
(sorting is not my favorite way to take up my time anyway...)
Purples, pinks, mauves, blues and light hues...
the hand dyed purple strips closest will feature
on the bases of the
flowers...
{lots of pieces, right?}
Four of these tulips make an 18" block...I don't know if I will make several
or just one,,,
but for now
I am really enjoying my latest scrappy string fling...

It was humid here most of the day A G A I N!!!!! ;(((
But it has cooled down enough for us to take an evening stroll on the
next Town's boardwalk...
We are hoping for some cooling offshore breezes..
I cannot tolerate the humidity that has been with us---
it makes me feel nauseous and ill...
hard to find enough oxygen to breathe...
So AC has been our fare and
I am so grateful for it...;))))
I hope you are comfortable wherever you are...

PLAYING WITH LEGOS
I have begun to hand quilt the Legos strips; they are pin basted onto muslin;
so the quilting with this Presencia No 8 thread is easy to needle...
I am quilting every other block in a different orientation: the two yellows
in the first row vertically and the middle pink horizontally..
the next row will be the reverse with the vertical in the middle and the two outside quilted blocks horizontally.
I had to think ↑↑↑ lol
about how I wanted this to look
as all the blocks are
pieced vertically--
AND: this way I won't have to worry about matching quilting lines
when I sew the strips together...
It has been "muy muy caliente"
(very very hot) here, so these hot
chilies remind me;
but this morning the hot spell has broken a bit,
and the humidity is only 62%--what a break;)))))
I sat out-of-doors↟↟π
this morning on our deck to have my coffee
and do some quilting, taking advantage
of the bright light...
π©πsuch a lovely way to start my day...π
These tiny shells↟
remind me that tonight the
ocean breezes will allow us to walk
on the boardwalk and be cool.
[NOT like last night when the muggy weather made us exhausted..ugh!!]
Here is this morning's 6 am sky--the dark clouds being blown away by the approaching cold front..
Hope your weekend will be happy and filled with joyful sewing...

I LIKE NO 14: STRINGS AND THINGS
These baskets contain all my scraps...
I need to separate them by color.
I LIKE DOING THAT IN THE EVENINGS WHILE WATCHING TV....;)))
*****************************
This Daylily is finally blooming
This is another really "liked" one: I have ordered 4 more daylilies and
got a special coupon for 10 free...I cannot wait to see what arrives....
Stay tuned....
**************************************
Storms are arriving here...soon............we really need rain....
Fingers crossed for beneficial rains...
I have been hand watering...
*****************************************
My little entryway herb garden: Basil and flat leafed parsley...
I am pinching off little bits to promote growth...
and drying the leaves for
our Winter cooking...
Nothing matches freshly dried basil to my mind...
Basil is my favorite herb followed closely by Tarragon
**************************************************
And here's looking at you...↓↓↓↓
I finally have gotten to Nefertiti's eyes...
this is such a satisfying canvas....the colors are
beautiful
************************************************
I am linking up with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color to add my positive
"likes" for this week...we love to say the glass in half-full.....;)))
Come and join in the fun....

SNOWBALL WALL
Here's my Sunday Snowball Wall
[ignore the crooked pinning please ;000]
The long strip on the right is the leftover pieces from this one below

AND....Here are the latest two for the middle section
and
As you can see, I am down to the nitty gritty for these colored squares....;)))
I spent a good amount of time organizing the leftover
triangles into colors...
PLUS: I STILL have lots of beige and gray and black 3.5" squares
leftovers...
I think they multiply overnight....;000
Do you think I pre-cut enough triangles??
AND squares???
[Note to self: think about how many you need]

NEXT AREA ON NEFERTITI
This week I get to work on Nefertiti's FACE !
As I work along
I am realizing just how wonderful
this glue is to work on;
AND...........
The coloration of the canvas matches the drills beautifully...
as these are round drills --and of course, the little spaces are squares--this is SO
important
to give a beautifully finished product...
you can see that in the undrilled part of the canvas above.
The little circles containing the color symbol are round
and set in the little colored square on the chart...
These canvases are "hand charted" instead of computer generated....
I think for these "stylized" art works (i.e. stained glass type) this
gives a beautiful array of vibrant colors...
FYI:
*Disclaimer (I have no ties to Diamond Art Club and do not get any
product or recompense from them--this is just my humble opinion)*
;)))) Just pure enjoyment....
