"Black Hole Sun" batting page
in progress...
Here is the lyric I am
interpreting:
↧↧↧↧
["Black Hole Sun , won't you come,
and
Wash away the rain..."]
I slow stitched the rain in the
gray section above
to give it more texture for
that lyric;
and
I couched golden silk ribbon
around the meeting of
black hole and sun
which emphasizes the black hole
better, I feel....
the title "Black Hole Sun"
around the top
↓↓↓
The facing page will be some sort of
rain and whirling eddy representation...
I am still thinking this through...
**************************
Here are a couple of photo shots from
Youtube videos showing concerts
with Chris Cornell performing
with Soundgarden...:
*******************************
And....
Here are my first two
rough lego slabs...
uncut and un-ironed
and just sewn together...
[and not all that straight either!!!]
;((((((
;))))
But I love the randomness
that comes out of
my "cut-as-you-go" method.
[Approx 11" wide by 14"-16" long)
I plan on cutting squares--
and I am
still deciding on final sizing
for these.
It took longer than I thought
to sew these together.
👀👀👀
Above is about 2 hrs work...
😣
I think this will be a
l o n g
project...
And,
I do need to cut more of a variety
of 1.5" strips to work with.

I am happy to report that our weather has
cooled down considerably and the
humidity leveled off enough early
this morning so we could have our coffee
out on our back deck...YAY!!

Reading: "Bleeding Heart Yard" by Elly Griffiths...
ReplyDeleteLove your Black Hole Sun. And Legos project looks fun. Watch out for bowing.
ReplyDeleteMo and I are happily outside today too.Enjoy.
Absolutely wonderful. The couching and fabric really add the right touch. The stitching on the gray added so much texture and interest. This piece doesn't need to be hidden in book, it needs to be displayed
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of interesting prints in the lego blocks. It looks like a good long range project to work on between other things.
ReplyDeleteElly Griffiths' books are good! What are you planning for the Lego project?
ReplyDeleteYour journal page is looking great, Julierose. Those are some fun fabrics in your lego slab. Looking forward to seeing what these will become.
ReplyDeleteI love that song and your interpretation of it! The Lego project looks great too. I always feel bad when I think of Chris Cornell. He had such a great voice.
ReplyDeleteWell done on your Black Hole Sun! I wonder what the singer would think of it.
ReplyDeleteBlack Hole Sun is progressing nicely, you must be so pleased. Lego blocks are fun to make aren't they!
ReplyDeleteBlack Hole Sun looks fabulous, Julierose. The couching and yellow fabric really draws you into the "Black Hole Sun" . It is just amazing!
