I don't know how large I want to go
as yet so these are just the first few
trial blocks...
Here is the start of my first block

I just really love her fabric choices for the petals
...and those cute polka dot leaves...
I need to choose fabrics
for my leaves and centers yet
I am just using what is in my stash...
I couldn't come up with any good
yellows--as that would have been
my first choice also..

And note how she has, like the pattern,
made one leaf different...
I missed even noticing that!!!

warm day; I sat out on our deck and
worked some more on
quilting "Lollipops".

bouquet slowly fading away...

I have put my Jelly Roll "Pips" away for the
time being as I really didn't like how the rows
came together at all....
I like "scrappy", but this looked like a
total hodge-podge to me!!
So......
I am taking a break from "jelly rolling"
for a bit to have a think about it and the
others I have as yet to be used...
Perhaps a TAW and or 16-patch piece....
We shall see....

ReplyDeleteI like both of the flowers you and your friend are working on. It must be fun to be collaborating, even though it's at a distance.
There were a couple yellow roses in my M's Day bouquet and I ended up drying them so I can continue to enjoy them. I still have the red ones from last year and am on the search for an appropriate vase to hold them - maybe a thrifting expedition is going to happen soon.
I love your new project! I'm looking forward to seeing your blocks. Today was cool and cloudy and tomorrow will be rainy and cold! I hope we have more nice days soon. Enjoy the long weekend!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun new project, Julierose. I love Jan Patek's designs. I am glad you have been able to enjoy some time out on your deck working on Lollipops. It is good to sit out before it gets too hot. Sometimes we just have to put projects in a time out. I have one I just began the other day that is on stand by. LOL. Have a wonderful Sunday. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI love how we can make the same design/pattern using our own stash and have the results be so different. And hooray for being able to sit outside and stitch. Rainy weekend here so we're staying inside while relaxing with books and projects and such.

I'm sorry your latest jelly roll project didn't come out the way you had hoped - sometimes those just need to go in time out for awhile. Sitting outside to do some handwork sounds lovely! Your Posies are lovely, so elegant. I hope you enjoy making them. I put Posies aside and worked on Boardwalk yesterday [gosh, this rain and cold is miserable!]. but may make a few Posies now. I'm not at all good at juggling two projects at once, even if I make notes.
ReplyDeleteAn idea: If you make the bottom triangles green then that area will look like the base of the flowers? Tho I quite love the crisp look of how you handled that awkward join so far---don't you just love the weirdness of JP patterns, lol.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sew-along you have underway! Vera Wong is a delight. There's a sequel, too. Then check out Detective Aunty by Uzma Jallaludin for a similar crafty old lady. (Though both Vera and Kausa are 60 which isn't really very old at all.)
