Big Stitch--Sore Hands--Any Hints???

Short post today...am attempting to "Big Stitch" my Wonky C's quilt by hand using DMC Perle 5 cotton in a lovely pale aqua color:

Using straight lines, except when I meet those dancin' crows I  am outlining them...

The only problem I find is:   it is really hard to pull this thread through all the layers --especially the knots--any suggestions out there???  I had a nice comment from  Mary .  I love to hear from anyone out there in our quilting world.  Thank you....

On a non-quilting note:  my Mom, has finished her Rehab after hip surgery in only 2 weeks!!  At 92--Phew--she is a really determined trooper.  Also, had houseguests, all musicians that both my husband and I knew and he worked with when we were dating--in the "Ice Age"--hahha....great fun, super talk...so now back to my projects....

Oldies and Newbies

Here is a wall hanging I did a few years back:

Loved that geisha  ladies fabric--

And here are a few free form pieces that I have yet to figure out how to put together--

And

Sort of Wonky log cabin flowers--got the idea from Rodale's "Favorite Techniques From Experts".

Now have two quilts and one wall hanging that are in process of being quilted; using "big stitch" and DMC perle cotton--and this is how it all begins to mount up....my fingers are sore from quilting already!

Have a great day

Full Stop: A Head-ache-head cold-sneeze-attack

Just got laid low yesterday with a GI-normous head cold; mostly think the stress of the past two weeks with Mom's broken hip and her troubles with rehab have lowered my resistance--and so....a few days' break here....(sneeze-gargle-blow-sneeze etc etc  S I G H ...)

but will have a new little wonky project started  for you to see as soon as I have 2 seconds not wheezing, sneezing....see you later  Achoo!!  Julierose, La Sneezeuse

You "GO BABY"-Girl

Yup--here it is:  my own lil Go Baby with 6x12 cutting mat and the set of 3 square dies:  I am excited!!  Isn't Thom a sweetie?  I can't wait to get started;( spent both yesterday and today at my Mom's Nursing & Rehab Center with meetings and trying to get her spirits uplifted)  am pretty well spent with all this trauma for her.  So this is a sweetheart of a surprise.

Well, gals, at any rate--here are some pixs of one of my first free-form quilts based loosely on log cabins:  I think this must be about 20 yrs ago...it's called "Red River Long Ago" after a painting that I saw on exhibit....

My blocks were full of "wonkiness even way back then...I just put together fabrics I loved and sewed on !!

A bientot mes amies

I AM a Messy Girl

Time to try to capture my "Liberated Baskets"--they have been exchanging places behind my back at night under cover of darkness..well, we WILL get them semi-lined up..

. Thanks  Tonya at Unruly Quilts for  your suggestions about other fabrics--I totally agree--mucho "toile" at this point--needs something to break it up...

After all, they are "free baskets, these girls of mine"...

Here is my messy room--strangely enough, I am considered to be obsessively neat in all other areas of my life (such commentators shall remain annonymous, but you know who you are)...but in my quilting nook...well...see for yourself...

AND, so on...

Here above is my front walk and view--so I can see the UPS man with his armloads of fabric and Quilting books struggle to my door!!

A little note to Rosemary--I cannot seem to leave a comment on your blog...probably moi...just so you know, I appreciate and read ALL comments....

AND, (big sigh)... here is one of my other Kitty quilts --I made about 6 of these and gave most to friends...

I know this post is waaaay too long...but here is the final shot of my kitty quilt --she looks like my "Schumee"...

Have to go and start aNOTher quilt...oh no....legos are invading my room....will they jump into those frisky baskets???

Avec amities to all
