I have the left 9 blocks sewn

(but not in rows yet as

I will be re-arranging them)

And have begun on the next 

group of 9

strangely enough

it doesn't look like my scrappy

strings have diminished

at all!!

I have begun a new diamond painting

for those of you who inquired:

I am planning on keeping going

until most of the strips are used up...

So far we have had 4"+ of snow

more than was predicted,

Tonight I have made a 

Shepherd's Pie 

for our dinner...

I used frozen corn

for the veggie in this one..

and i added a bit of tomato paste

to the meat and onion mix...

I often change this one up.

WILD GARDEN

 

I have been collecting all the

"flowery" strings from making

my granddaughters'

(3 of them) quilts 

and 

started this spider web quilt...

Ummmm... 

{I thought I was straightening

out all my flowered strings 

but instead

this happened;))) }

Pinks, purples yellows, and greens

with pink centers...

AND SO

💗

"Wild Garden" 

was born

I began pinning it up on my wall

yesterday

I do love to see these flowery

webs appear like

magic...

It is a very "wild" space with flamingoes,

and

hidden kitties, 

and a few bluebirds

flying by...

I really enjoy this kind of 

semi-scrappy sewing...

For those of you who have asked

My recurrent cold is a bit better

today..

Saturday's supper 

will be:

leftover pot roast, 

potatoes with 

gravy and

a string bean salad...

HEXAGONIA-- HERE I COME

 

I began working on my

new hexagon hand project 

this morning ...

along with my coffee;)))

[But first, I---

Dusted (on hands and knees to get those

pesky baseboards that hold all those

dust bunnies--ooof!!) 

and swept up my sewing room. ]

I first saw these hexagons on a

Missouri Star Quilt Co. 

youtube video--

And I was just charmed by the fact that

your piece is finished in

a single sewing..

{Also, my blogging friend,

DEB  (click to see)

is making these for part

of her RSC project

this year. Hop on over and

take a look at her take

on these;))) }

The batting is layered inside and

the little folded binding holds

all 3 layers together...

I have prepped 

5 more:

I wanted to finish using the rest

of this French text fabric so that

it was really readable--

and this is the perfect 

setting for it, don't

you think? :)))

for all the ones I make

Definitely wishing for

Springtime to come...

I have a Roast beef 

(bottom round) cooking

in my Slo cooker;

and have peeled my

potatoes

for dinner tonight.

I will make my gravy 

right in the crock pot, so

it is almost one pan cooking..

I will add steamed string beans 

with almonds

as our side veg.

We had another 3" of snow overnight

but everything seems to be melting

in our weak sunshine...

And so has my day begun....

A FUNKIFIED FLIMSY--FINALLY

 

Log Cabins are now corralled

into a 

FLIMSY

Whoever said that log cabins

are a snap

WAS 

SO WRONG!!

Whoa, Mama!!

I used all scraps and chunks

of fabrics in my stash for

this one and cut the logs

with my Accuquilt cutter--

BUT...

Uhhhh

I neglected to check

which way the 

BIAS

ran!

So a lot of the logs are bowed....

Plus, for some reason,

I didn't notice this until I began sewing

all the blocks together...

UGH

Then 

I had to trim all the edges

BUT......

this still left the insides

"bowing and scraping"!

And so it stays--

for

no way

will I

take this

apart and fix it...

(Nope, nada, 

no way Jose!)

This will be a utility cover-up

quilt for our cool

evening tv watching...

(emphasis on utility!!)

And so it goes...

sometimes you win and 

sometimes....

not....

Despite it all, I did enjoy making

this one and I do like the colors...

was roast chicken with

Tom is doing the clean up

for me...

my cold seems to be going away

Still taking it easy though...

Tom Brady is 18 yrs older

than Patrick Mahones?) 

Should be interesting....

MIGRATION MARINATION

 

"Night Flight" blocks--

30 of them

are up on my wall

waiting to be moved about

into their final places 

and sewn together...

They are in what I like to call

"Marination".

I will be looking at them

a lot as I sit and sew

(they are right above Helga),

and as I take fleeting glances

walking by my sewing room.

Usually this will spark

an idea for final 

placements...

AND

ALSO....

I want to decide on border(s).

I am thinking right now

that they need a small 

"Stop Border"

(perhaps echoing the

red in the centers to

bring them out a bit..

I stopped at the 8.5" 

measurement;

mostly because I totally

ran out of dark navy blues and

those blue-grays...

and also because, 

frankly,

I got SO tired of adding those

little squares to

the logs!! 

;0000

But on the whole,

 I have really

really enjoyed

this piecing

journey.

I still have 30 other 

red and cream hourglass

centers awaiting

a new colorway

choice.

I may just make them 

into a courthouse steps

sans the cornerstones...
