FLOOR WORK FOR CHRISTMAS, et al

I have laid out my Christmas backing for "Willy-Nilly"...
;)))))))))
Phew--
Crawling around on the floor is not for
the faint of heart
(pitty-pat--pitty-pat )!!
πŸ’“πŸ’“πŸ’“

All these fabrics are from my
Christmas box--which really has mostly
cut offs and  smaller pieces in it--
But. but, But......

 I was able to unearth
these lovelies.)))

You can just about make out all those
little 1/4 and 1/2 yds and scraps
in there.......

{The table runner the box is on
is the
Cathedral Window
 my  Mom made
all by hand
from Dad's old ties
 when we got together
with our sewing group
once a week---
We called ourselves:
"The Sew and Sews".
;)))))
It was such a fun
group of ladies...
Sadly, they have
all gone on
I do miss
those
days}
Moving on as we all must....

I split that old fashioned white scenic fabric in half and then
put my favorite pomegranite fabric down the center;

AND
Along the top and bottom I had this wide striped fabric scene to use,,,
I think this will work well...
Willy-Nilly will now become
"Holiday Willy-Nilly"

Who Knew????
****************************************
Well, that pooped me out for the rest of the day!
πŸ‘ΉπŸ‘ΊπŸ‘½πŸ‘ΎπŸ‘Ώ
This old bod doesn't like getting up and
down and roaming around on my
knees on the floor --Phew!!

So now, I can sew this together--
Looking forward to seeing this
come together...

Hugs,

MY LITTLE BASKET, et al

I have begun making 6" square little
woven blocks....

Each block will be one colorway....
and will be backed
with a very lightweight fabric
with simple running stitches to hold it
all together...

I took an online class with
Jude Hill years ago
and made a bed sized quilt using
this method --
[albeit with bigger squares....].

I also saw "K3N's Cloth Tales"
recent Youtube video
where she made a block like this
for her Week 39 prompt
in her fabric  Journal...

AND....
also my little basket
holds
 these little cuties:

I have some leftover
 Kaffee Fassett
Charm squares and
I am making little
puffy reversible squares,
{"Little Puffers"}

 They are simply whipped stitched
together --
back to back--
with leftover batting scraps
inside...
Then I sew a few holding
stitches on them...

As you can see above using
that red perle cotton thread...

I like to have a variety of hand
projects to switch back
and forth as I watch tv....
:)))))

****************************
AND....
I received this beautiful book today
in the mail
from Tom as part of my
Anniversary present:

I can't wait to read it all.....

I also await the 2nd part of this gift
to come which is:

A tin of DMC Mouline Special
embroidery flosses ....

He really knows what I like
πŸ’“πŸ’ƒπŸ’–

*********************
I have decided to make my "Willy Nilly"
flimsy into a Christmas tablecloth;
flannel lined and paired with
backing fabrics from my
old Christmas stash...

I am hoping to deplete that stash a lot....
I may use my machine tying at
block intersections to
tie it all together...
we shall see....

***********************
So, this is part of my fabric
ongoing WIPS
right now...

I hope you are enjoying this
Autumnal weather

TWO STARTS.....et al

I began hand quilting this morning--

"It's A Jungle Out There"
table runner....

The squares are made from
leftover jelly roll strips;
and the backing:

is a  fun Laurel Burch fabric......
[the fabric is much
more vivid than this photo!!]

This photo shows the LB fabric
across the top in truer colors.......

I am using this lovely thread
and a Milliner's needle
[my hands can no longer grasp
small quilting needles]
to hand quilt...
⇓⇓⇓
Such a luscious color that goes well
with both sides....

**************************
And...

TA-DAH....

I began my next little scroll--
I am calling it
"Summer Memories"

Using up those little cut-offs of favorite
blue and green fabrics that remind
me of Summertime....

Here is the start already
basted down....

The backing is a long piece
of old linen which needles
so beautifully...;)))

followed by this section and
this one
↡↡↡
The rest of the length is pinned in place
out of the way while I baste
it all down before adding my
enhancements
;)))

I've rolled up and pinned out of the way
the rest for ease of working...

All just scrappy pieces that
I could not bear to
throw away
πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

This project is just my fun,
relaxing,
"in my lap project"...;))))

So far, I have made four
little bobbin scrolls....
{shown below}

I have them displayed on my
buffet atop my cherished
Grand-mere's
hand crocheted doily....
:))))

Tonight will be an easy supper:

BBQ'd cheese burgers,
with Master Grill Chef,
 Tom, doing his magic ----
and
I have prepared us a
German Potato Salad
for the simple side dish...

as my back allows...

PAPER CRAFTING PROMPTS PLAY

I pulled 3 prompts from my
ring holder this morning
to work in my cut
down and prepped
Seed Catalogue
Book pages......

"Fluffy, Vintage, Lamp"
were the 3 words I pulled
off my ring holder.....

[that little house is a wind
chime my Mom had near
her bedroom window]

Here is the dbl spread I
made using those themes:
I used these images from  various
magazine cuttings...
A collage of sorts...
;))))
And
I noted the 3 words on the
bottom righthand side...

I first prepped the pages with
white gesso to age
their look...

A bit of----
...early morning fun...

BB, FROM START TO FINISH, et al

Here's my little sketch for the last BB page....
just a random rendering of the spark of an idea...

↨↨↨↨↨

This , once I looked through my fabrics,
ended up turning into this:
As per usual I tried to make the
fabric work for me...
And
to keep it simple....

Naan {click to visit}
gifted me the background batik
and the metallic braid
that turned out to be just
perfect for my vision...
(Merci, mon amie)

Now my BB is finished:
AND...
Here is the simple wraparound
cover I made with the
"Moons" theme:

Two leftover layer cake blocks with
this fabric as the lining...

↓↓↓
again using the fabrics without having to
add anything--
the fabric themselves explain what you
will find inside...

Here is the
["Chunky Monkey" ]
"Many Moons" BB
in its final state:

Here it is closed and covered....
I used a simple
3-hole pamphlet stitch
to attach the cover...

And I will use this as the tie
↡↡↡↡
this was such a fun and absorbing project
for me...

***********************
Now, on with the "Willy- Nilly"
lego/slab project...
Here are the final two sides to be
sewn together--
42" x 52" {+/-}
unfinished...

I am planning on delving into my
leftover layer cake stash and
using those blocks for the backing...

*************************
Another gorgeous day has dawned
here so we had our coffee
out on the deck:

My hydrangea has finally deigned to bloom for me;
I am sitting and sipping my frother coffee,
 watching the big flowerheads
nod in the cool breezes....
What a great way to start the day....

FIFTY-NINTH and counting, et al

Today is our 59th Wedding Anniversary--
πŸ’πŸ’‘πŸ’–
Here we are at our daughter's Wedding
above...

We plan a quiet, restful day with
most likely a nice "take-out" meal.
After our recent bout with
"after-Covid shot-itis"
we just don't feel up to a big
restaurant outing...
πŸ‘½

It appears that we will be able
to sit out on our back deck
and relax....with this lovely weather
we are having right now.

So.....
I will be working on my final
Batting Book (BB) page:
Here is the pinned version below:
I am naming this one:
"Once in a Blue Moon".

A whimsical representation
using some favorite fabrics
from my stash...;)))

Here it is basted in place:
I used Jude Hill's
"glue basting"
method to hold everything
in place for working...

And here
are my
latest additions:
I added that Metallic Braid
that Nann sent me in her
surprise gift pkg around the
partial moon;

Thanks so much, Nann;
it was definitely
serendipity that this was the perfect
item for my Moon surround...
:)))))))

I am
slowly adding some twinkling
stars and little comets across
the background skies..

**************************
On my Lego project:
I have sewn the two long sides of my
lego/slabs: "Willy-Nilly"
together--one more
L  O  N  G
strip to sew....
πŸ‘€πŸ‘ΊπŸ‘€
52 [+/-] " long
Slow going on this; a lot
to handle for my poor shoulders
and hands...
But, but. but

I do love how the longer length looks!!!

{thanks Wanda and  QDJulie for your
advice to "go for it".  You
were so right;)))) }

I hope your day will be a wonderful one
["9/11" not withstanding]

LEGO/SLABS PROGRESS, et al

My Lego/Slabs sewed into 4 long strips....
They are
just pinned up there
and not sewed
together as yet....
{also untrimmed}.

I have 5 more slabs, but feeling that
if I add them across the bottom
it will be too big for me to
handle quilting on
Helga....

I will be adding borders to make this
more of a rectangular shape-
which I prefer...;))))

I will next finalize the long strip order...
I can already see some
repeated fabrics too close to
each other...
as below:
↓↓↓

I am naming this one
"Willy-Nilly"
as some things are
upside down:
↧↧↧

Right side up
↶↶↶

and every which way, too.

This will be "marinating on my wall for a bit...

*************************
Batting Book page edges
Will look like this when sewn closed:
⇊⇊⇊
Just a simple whipping stitch.

I have one more page to work on before
I can close the final two pages together...
I will be calling this one :
"Once in a Blue Moon",

then, I will have to figure out
some kind
of a cover....
And I will be
thinking about
a cover title for these pages....
