POSIES, et al

I have all 12 Posie blocks sewn...
now to decide how I want to set them..

Here is the pattern setting:
Now, I definitely  am no fan of "stars"--
cutting or sewing--- etc...so...
I may just make 1/2 width plain bars to
offset these
blocks in the background white...

[the star blocks are the same width as
the leaf blocks in the pattern]--
OR
sash them with cornerstones...

i will leave these up and "tinker" for a bit...

And in the meantime I will bind
Lollipops while I am pondering ...

****************************
Here is a closer look at the centers I chose:

******************************
We will be watching Formula One (F1)
racing in Monaco this weekend...
starting today with practice
runs 1 &2 ....

Hugs for a wonderful weekend...
sunny and hot here today...
we hear lawn mowers all
around us so will be
inside for a while...

"OH LOLLY, LOLLPOP..." et al

 "Lollipops" is all quilted now
and
Ready to be trimmed up;)))
↧↧↧
Here it is --
trimmed and
ready to be bound--
with this light lavender binding...
Yes, another one in the pipeline now...;)))
Finally...

*************************
Meanwhile, I have been sewing away
on "Posies"....

Her are the latest blocks
seven out of the final 12...

One more lavender to sew up and
then 4 in blue to be added,

And file under
"just made it"!!:
below↴↴↴↴
This is all that is left of my "leaf" fabric...

I will use these bits and bobs in my
Junque Journal as they are just
too special to be thrown out...

One of my all time favorite
fabrics is finally all used up!!

*****************************
Tonight's dinner menu will include:

Beef oven roast with pan gravy
 and
mashed potatoes
and
petit pois in butter sauce.

We will be eating on the early side
as this is a big meal and we find lately
that eating too late is
not good for our
digestions...

************************
We are having very strong winds--
30+mph!!! and
it is "raining" leaves and
pollen all over the place--it looks like
a hurricane aftermath out there on our deck!!!

It is also pretty chilly with that
constant gusting north wind
blowing everything around!

A good day to be inside for sure!!

Note: edited to add pix of storm aftermath:

Clean up for sure, today.....

DECK DAY--CARPE DIEM, et al

Yesterday dawned warm and sunny
with cooling breezes here....
So....
Coffee and quilting supplies in hand
I went out and sat on my lounge chair
AND....

Began working on adding more hand quilting
To "Lollipops"..

I just have these little squares (top and bottom--
six squares on each)
To be finished

and then the purple starry borders to be finished...
Little bit by little bit I am finally nearing the end...;)))

The bottom portion got finished yesterday and
just the top 6 remain...
So nice to see progress...
💃👏💜

*******************************
Today has dawned overcast and humid--
so I am glad that I followed the
"Carpe Diem" mantra
("seize the day")
yesterday and was able
to relax and quilt...

*****************
Later on today we plan to go to a garden center to
find another shrub to replace our winter killed Holly
bush up front that shields us from oncoming
car headlights coming into our tv room windows...

That Siberian cold front really did a job on a lot of
our bushes; but that specific one is the most
important...hoping we can find a super hardy plant...

On the other hand, the bottom of this one is
showing green growth--what to do? What to do??
[The whole top 7/8th is -- or looks dead!! ]

Since we haven't decided on just what to
replace (or not!!) this with, we've
tabled our trip to garden-landia...
😕😞😧

POSIES' PROGRESS

I had just enough of this old, old
leafy fabric left to make enough
leaves for my four posies and
for four more flowers;
I machine raw-edge
appliqued the leaves and stems.

Below are the two lavender
prints for the next four flowers...
↧↧↧↧
There will be two of each fabric and
I have my little corner 1.5" squares
ready to mark up for sew-and-flip
tomorrow...

Little steps at one time for me
these days..
and
trying to set up for
the next day's sewing...

Another green stem fabric
↴↴↴↴

This is the 2nd stem fabric I chose as I ran
out of the first one...

As I said, just using stash....
:))))))
Use it up!!!
;)))))

I also have this little coin strip that may come
in handy during the sewing together???

I am planning on using a mellow yellow
for the flower centers--if I can find one
in my stash...
Pink, green,  lavender, and yellow
sounds good to me...
for a Spring-ey
vibe...💚💗💚💜

RAINY DAY SEWING, et al

My good friend Lizzy
and I
are both starting to make this
Jan Patek quiltlet ....

I don't know how large I want to go
as yet so these are just the first few
trial blocks...

Here is the start of my first block

and the fabric for the second one...

You can see the green I chose for the stems
above...

Four little posies begun....;))))

And just to show how differently we all
see these blocks --
here is the first
of Lizzy's below...
I just really love her fabric choices for the petals
...and those cute polka dot leaves...

I need to choose fabrics
for my leaves and centers yet

I am just using what is in my stash...

I couldn't come up with any good
yellows--as that would have been
my first choice also..
.
And note how she has, like the pattern,
made one leaf different...
I missed even noticing  that!!!
I really love your take on this Lizzy
💛💛💛
S  I  G  H.....😓
I will definitely do that on the next few...
*****************************
Earlier this week, when we had a lovely,
warm day; I sat out on our deck and
worked some more on
quilting "Lollipops".
that was so relaxing ,,,,

********************
Here is the last rose from my Mother's Day
bouquet slowly fading away...
I just love the colors...

**************************
I have put my Jelly Roll "Pips" away for the
time being as I really didn't like how the rows
came together at all....

I like "scrappy", but this looked like a
total hodge-podge to me!!

So......
I am taking a break from "jelly rolling"
for a bit to have a think about it and the
others I have as yet to be used...
Perhaps a TAW and or 16-patch piece....
We shall see....

Hugs on a rainy Saturday
and Happy Memorial Day Weekend
to you all💙

BACK FROM BREAK, et al

Here are my "Sherbet Pips" jelly roll pieces
all laid out for the first
l -o - n- g
round of sewing...

{Note the little pile of extra squares
from my stash that I will
sprinkle throughout}

I have pre-trimmed all of
the strips to various lengths-
as recommended by
Rose
in her tutorials...

Here are some of the 4.5" squares
she generously sent me
These will be added here and there
after the 2nd round has been sewn...

***************************
FYI: Yet Another Tick Event

I have finally finished my course of medicine
for the two badly infected tick bites--
[YES, two others!! sigh...]
that were just found due to their
"insalubrious" positions!!

I am so glad and lucky that I did opt
to go to my doctor and have
them checked  out..
At least they didn't hospitalize me
this time around!!

I will skip all the gory details
["you're welcome;)) ]
and just say that I hope they are now
well on their way to disappearing.
I would highly recommend not waiting
if you get a tick bite...!!!!

At this point I find myself
 hesitant to even step
onto any grassy surface...
But....
My "Sweet Baboo" is going to
take care of our front seating area with
anti-tick -spray and we will
be extra careful about
checking for sure!!!!

******************************
I am finally feeling well enough
to get back to my normal sewing
and crafting routines. I have been
mostly napping and resting.

*************************
Here is part of my Mother's Day and birthday
bouquet from  my daughter....
who came down to see me
with her significant other last Sunday...

Along with

This beautiful solar Fire Bowl
which I really love...💗💓💖
