"UNITY" PROGRESS , et al

Here is my "take" ↟↟↟
on the Log Cabin Loonies
pattern below

Isn't it just amazing
what a different color choice
can make?

I have totally run out of grays now,
and am moving toward the gray-blues

Here is a darker
gray/blue-y
addition...above

There will just be 4 of these
then the rest
will be a gray/silver
leaf-ey print below

These seem to go well
with the batiks round...

[If you look at these cornerstones
you can see that I had to substitute
different prints for them also.]

So this will be a
semi-scrappy
version....

AND

Here is one with the 2nd batik
print I had left....
It is on the "darker side
of gray...
*******************************

With this final round my blocks
will measure 8 1/2"
(more or less--as
usual-- hahaha)

I have 10 left to
make...for this
8 1/2" round.

My decision will be whether
this is big enough...
or if I need an additional round
to bring them up to 10 1/2".
👵

There are 15 blocks in this colorway
AND
I have another 15 awaiting
my decision on a different
colorway entirely...

************************
We awakened to frigid cold this morning!!
8 degrees and windchill values
of -1 degree...

Strong winds continue to blast us here,
and we are hoping that
we don't have any
power outages...

I hope you are all staying safe and warm

"UNITY", et al

Here are the next round of logs
(blue and white batik).

I have decided to name my log cabin
"U N I T Y"
in honor of the Inauguration
of our new Administration.

I have six made so far...
and these are ready
to go

↡↡↡↡
If you click on this
photo,
you can see that I the batik
changes.

I only had a small piece of the
first one, so am
scrapping it up
with the 2nd....

*********************
We will be watching football
at 3 pm today
The buccaneers and
Tom Brady....

and my Tom
is making us creamed tuna for
our luncheon--along
with my tossed  salad --
that will comprise
our big meal
for today...

I also made us brownies for
dessert--My new rule being
"only homemade sweets..."

I hope you are all well and staying vigilant
on this very windy and cold
Sunday

I keep geeting:

So annoying...!!!

Sooooo,
No hugs for Bloglovin

STITCHING GEESE, et al

56 Geese quilted
so far...
on "Night Flight"
{click to enlarge all photos}

The middle row of 11
is finished --
top to bottom..

The other 4 middle rows have 3
geese left
on either end...

Once they are done,
the middle portion of the
piece will have been all
quilted;)))

Here is how the back is looking
↡↡↡↡↡
With the skeins
of Geese
flying through
the tree branches...
I love how this
is working out...

I bordered the trees with this
lovely feather print.
I love it!!;)))

*********************************
This morning I bit the bullet,
so to speak,

AND

trimmed my L o o o ng hair...

I've been watching videos on
how to do this and took
the leap...
{There is no way I am going to
any hairdresser until I have
my shots--which, I fear,
may be quite a while
even though both Tom and I
are both age-eligible}

I also trimmed my bangs...
just a blunt trim to get rid
of the dead ends.

So now my hair just
reaches my mid back--
it was
getting WAY too long...

************************
We had a
"Monday Brunch"
today...👍👍👍
👫

I made home fries with the
leftover potatoes boiled
for our corned beef
and cabbage dinner last night;
and we had sausages;
 and
scrambled eggs
and
toasts...
It was so good and
so
FILLING!!

Tonight will be leftover
corned beef sandwiches
on rye bread with
french fries...

[have I told you how much
we 💕 potatoes???]

I hope you are enjoying this long weekend...
and getting some sewing in...

LCL'S PROGRESS: ROUND ONE

Here is the ROUND ONE  of my
Log Cabins
[Log Cabin Loonies= "LCL"]

The off-white logs are older batiks
I had on hand along with
some white on cream
low volume
strips...

I made 60 in total;  but I will be
using only 30 for my first
log cabin...

Here is my "mock up" to
see if I like these
colors
↓↓↓↓↓
Varied gray toned fabrics
for the logs
along with the dark blue
for the cornerstones...

I have 6 set up to
work on
tomorrow
and a lot more cutting to do...
These will be taking a bit
longer than a regular
"courthouse steps"
log cabin would, but
I have plenty of
time these long
days....
Many thanks to:

for hosting this
Log Cabin Loonies
SAL
:)))

***************************
The teeming rains have finally stopped here;
it was very windy and rain swept all last night.

It is 44 degrees here right now;
pretty warm for January!!
But temps are predicted to drop...

I hope you are all staying safe...

LOG CABIN CENTERS

THIS IS WHAT I DID TODAY...

I made 12 more
little hourglass centers for my
Log Cabin Loonies SAL

I now have 28 made...
:))))
I have to decide yet
how many I want to make.

JulieK's making 60
blocks
on her SAL.

I was sewing along
with my little OWLET
pin holder...

Isn't she the cutest???

I have a kit to make
another one
waiting
in the wings.

************************
I didn't do any geese quilting
today...giving my hands
a bit of a rest...

QUILTING GEESE

I have quilted 35
Geese by hand so far...

Sitting at my
dining room table
With tea to hand...
;)))

The lighting is really good;
and
I can rest my arms
on the table;
which
seems to work well.

I can manage  to quilt 5 per day
without any ill effects.

***************************
Tonight's dinner menu includes:

Meat loaf, boiled potatoes,
green beans and
gravy....
*************************
It has been a sunny, but windy and cold,
day here...

I hope you are all staying
safe and wearing your masks
FOR

COVID is STILL HERE💀
