STAR-A-DAY
Here
is
Thursday's
Apple
Star
AND
Here is Friday's Autumnal Star
I am making one star per day; do you have a "routine" that you set up for
repeat blocks?
I really enjoyed figuring out how I wanted to set up the steps
in making these stars....somehow knowing that by heart now, gives me a great
deal of satisfaction and pleasure...
no fiddling about, no wondering "what next".
Just picking the squares, and the center, and deciding the star point colors;
then row by row, always ironing the seams open...and VOILA!! 😻 Instant
happiness and gratification...
I am a person who likes repetition...
I think this must come from my piano background
when I would go over and over a section to get it
just right....maybe??? And never got sick of doing it that way....
My Ojos strip blocks and even log cabins fall right into this method....
**************************************************************
In thinking back on my quilt making processes, I see that my choices of blocks
and strips fall on this method of a "routine"; and maybe that is why I've
never made any quilts with all different blocks...
I do think they are beautiful--- like especially:
LORI'S (click to see this beauty ) "Sweet Liberty" quilt.
I am so drawn to this.....
but have never gone down that road...
the closest I've come are the very few applique
pieces I've made .
Soooo, What is your favorite quilt making method (s)??
**************************************
I hope this wonderful refreshing, cooler weather has come to your home....
hugs for a super weekend....

More star blocks and they are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do get into a routine with repeat blocks.
Right now I'm sewing borders onto three quilts that I'm making
medallion style. So I'm getting into a border 'routine.'
And Lori's quilt is very fun!
I am a scatterbrain quilter. Lol I like to have many irons in the fire. Repetition bores me so if one needs cutting and another needs binding etc I can pick up the project I feel like moving along. Sometimes it is a week of bindings to get er done. Sometimes it is leader and ender sewing to make parts to play with later. Thats why I love slab blocks. Never wrong.just fun.
ReplyDeleteI, too, love the routine of making the same block a little at a time. Or I enjoy sitting down at the same time each day to do hand stitching (binding, piecing, cross stitch, applique etc.). Like right now I'm itching to stitch but there is nothing in progress to just "do" without planning or cutting or reading the instructions.
ReplyDeleteI like a rhythm to my day, so like Robin do my hand stitching at the same time each day, but when it comes to making blocks I get bored too easily, so I make something until I don't want to any more, then I find a different way to keep going. Your stars are lovely.
ReplyDeletePour moi ça dépend, parfois de la répétition, parfois pas 2 blocs pareils ! Belles étoiles en tous cas ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your stars! I wish I could work daily on some project but I just can't swing it with work. I love that routine and feel you can really get a lot accomplished.
ReplyDeleteI like a bit of a routine and repetition. Enjoy your daily stars! How many will there be, do you think?
