Here is my first all crumb block
"Spring Rains".
This took four days to make...
crumbs are not a fast project
but,
for me,
a really fun and satisfying
way to sew...
I find it so interesting to rifle through
that giant scrap bag and
begin to pull out fabrics that
"call my name"...
And
then
slowly, they all seem to
come together...
A whole lot of cutting, trimming
and sewing:
repeat and
repeat and
repeat again..
The lovely Iris fabric
(featured in 3 places)
was the biggest and last
piece left...
just a couple
narrow string pieces
are still in the bag....
I have no definite plans for this
little mini piece...
we shall see what happens
during my next
playtime..
Won't it be fun to quilt???
************************
And in a similar-- but different
vein...
I made
what I call a
"FUNFETTI"
"FUNFETTI"
block...
↧↧↧↧
Capturing those tiny snips and
slivers of fabric all encapsulated
in white on white chunks...
I think I am trying to 👀
just how small
I can go....
[See that teeny-tiny little sliver
of green on the middle left?
{click it}
I am so totally smitten
with that].
Call me CRAZEE and
you wouldn't be wrong.
I find this so rewarding
and relaxing...
Again, not a fast process;
that one block
took about 4 hours
to make...and I had
the tiny pieces
all saved...
I hope you enjoyed this little peek
into my Saturday playtime
with my tiniest scraps...
Thank you for following my
sewing journeys...
I love to read and
answer all of your
comments ...

Oh, so pretty. Not only do those type blocks take a lot of time to make, it makes a big mess rooting through all of the scraps for the perfect ones.
ReplyDeleteOh boy - it is always so fun to stop in and see what you are up to. You take such joy out of your crafting. Your scraps sure do make some very pretty projects.
ReplyDeleteYou found a lot of nice matches for Spring Rain! What fun.
ReplyDeleteYou're finding the same kind of fun making your crumb blocks that I felt making the blue spiderweb quilt! Your fabric scraps are so joyously springtime! Have fun and we'll look forward to future installments!
ReplyDeleteNice job. Love them both
ReplyDeleteWanda is right - these are so much fun but they DO make a mess. I really like your white ones with the color scraps.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours in your crumb blocks! Heaps of potential here, look forward to seeing what happens next :)
ReplyDeleteIt does look like you are having fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderfully creative playtimes you've been enjoying! Love seeing both of those! xx
ReplyDeleteLooks like there's a lot of fun happening in your sewing room! To say nothing about using up some of those pesky scraps. I have to say I admire your fortitude in sewing some of those teeny little pieces together!
ReplyDeleteThese are such fun blocks! They may be time consuming but there's something so satisfying by playing in your scraps! I hope you're staying warm and dry. This weather is awful! I had to put the heat on which I hated to do!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice and very fun xo
