pinned, and ready to be quilted.
I've used up all of my long-hoarded
peacock feathers fabric...
I've kept all of my very favorite
fabrics after the de-stash;
and now I will be using them...;)))

the Pavement blocks; they are
in no particular order, and in fact,
I am not sure I like them all
that much right now...
I am hoping that more blocks
will help....????
Since I am working with scraps and
chunky leftovers, doing any
kind of an even number of
pinks, yellow, and greens
is really not possible.
I did pull some other lighter
pinks from my pink bag,
and a few more greens, and I
will try to add them to the mix.
Each pair, if you want to match them up,
require {8} 3.25" cut triangles.
(I need that extra little bit--
.25 of an inch--
to get the blocks to measure
4.75" inches);
the centers are 3.5" squares.

Should all the yellow centers
be lined up together
and all the greens etc.???
Or staggered??
OR...
Should all the corners
be the thing
to match?
What are your thoughts??

I guess trying to figure this
out before all the blocks are sewn is
next to impossible...
At least for me it seems to be...
And so I will continue to sew these
up until I run out of leftover
scraps....

Blue Charms is looking good, all pinned and ready to be quilted. The Scrappy Log Cabin flimsy turned out nice. I agree, the red border is a nice finishing touch. I'm not sure what to suggest for your Pavement blocks. Like you say, wait until more blocks are made. It will be easier to decide then.
ReplyDeleteI would probably mix up the pavement blocks so you don't need to have matching numbers of anything, just lots of fun blocks.

ReplyDeleteA tip for arranging the Pavement blocks that might help (I do this with my landscapes)...lay them out in different configurations and then take pictures of each...turn the photos into black & white and then look at them. Often that helps tremendously.
Blue charms is so pretty and soothing to look at. I love the high contrast.

ReplyDeleteLove your projects! I would just play around with what you have and see what you like best. That's the hard part about using scraps. You just might not have enough to finish things a specific way. But it's so great to use them up!! Today is much nicer than yesterday. I'm so sick of all that rain!
ReplyDeleteYour Blue Charms is so pretty, light and cool. I think with your pavement blocks, just have fun making a lot of blocks and then arrange and rearrange. I agree with Magpie - black and white photos help to see contrast!

ReplyDeleteWe are having smoke again, tho not the icky yellow skies. You too I think. Hard to know what to do---sit out and sew, go for walks, hide in the AC? It's good we have projects, right?

Julierose, just catching up on blogs, I have been missing - not in action, rather non-action! Happy to see you're powering along with your many projects. I am one who does very much like the colours in Pavement blocks - just keep adding to adding more blocks.
