In keeping with using my stash and leftovers....
I am making my favorite Ojos in just whites,
off whites, and low volume colors
--all my cut offs and leftovers
from sides of quilts, bindings, etc...
All on 4" square telephone book papers...
I really do like this kind of sewing--
almost, but not quite "mindless"
and so relaxing...
😇😊😌
I want to machine sew, but I am not in the mood
to be able to decide on a project these days...
and so, this type of sewing is just perfect...

My Christmas Ojos is
all set for me to use this year....

shows the dense quilting...

I mean it is almost
always messy for sure!!
I am working on a little Christmas project for our
holiday decor right now...
BUT
more about that later on....;))))))

drawers full of threads
here to the left of where I sit --
so as to be easily
accessible...
I am still having to be very careful about
how much I actually sew and for how long
these days...but I am stubbornly refusing
to give up...
I hope to get to hand quilt
a couple more sashings
on "Sunrise, Sunset" tomorrow...
Those plus the borders are all
I have left to do...

With the advent of these colder gay
days, and early darknesses
I decided that I needed to pull out my
brilliant colored Kawandi
to brighten things up....
Here it resides on my cocktail table:
"Sunset over the Ocean"
is my first Kawandi project--
I really love how it came out...
AND...
FYI:
I purposely pulled the side edge few rows
of threads tighter than usual to give it a
"wave" look for the ocean feel....

The kawandi is a beautiful rainbow, Julie. I recall a joke about "look, there are cookies in Mom's sewing box!"
ReplyDeleteYour Kwandi is so pretty and what a good way to brighten things up now that DST is over. Little things like your 4" squares do add up and every stitch counts so whether you go slowly or not, it is all worthwhile!

ReplyDeleteI can't imagine not having a mess in the creative room. I don't know what to do when it is all cleaned up with no sign of a project.
My mom had a sewing box she made from a cookie tin. I used to love to look through it when I was too young to sew. I always loved that tin! Your projects all look great. Your quilting is gorgeous. Just do what you can as long as you take care of you!!
ReplyDeleteyears ago I had a large tin that held chocolates that had ben a gift - the tin wasn't the least dirty and I never thought to wash it before I started to store some blocks in it - the first time I opened it up I was smelling chocolate and remembering how good they were

ReplyDeleteMy mom had a retro version of that box [different pictures] but hers had buttons, including from her mom, great aunt and grandmothers. Oh how I loved sorting thru them.
PS Your journaling work station is not messy at all! And how lovely to have a dedicated art table and space.

ReplyDeleteThe sewing tin! Hehehe! I turned my Girl scout tins into various project keepers. I really should pull some and work on them. Little hand work projects in each. Love seeing your project space. Stay warm and have a great day.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that tin reminded me of my grandmothers who both had tins like that filled with buttons. And seeing your Kawandi project makes me want to make another one.
