RSC13 YELLOW "SLABS'" THIS WEEK

SLABS FOR CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA

I made these two "slabs" for donation to the flood ravaged Southern Alberta, Canada  today.

Cheryl @ Dining room Empire has requested quilt bloggers to donate these for her sewers and longarm quilter to put together to donate to the needy up there.

She will make quilts in the above style.  You can read all about it on her blog.....

Here are two closer shots of my "slabs"....

I figured this way, I'd be fulfilling my RSC13 June "yellow" work and helping out...maybe you'd like to help out, too,

YELLOW FOR THE FIRST SATURDAY OF SUMMER

HERE IS ANOTHER LITTLE CHEDDAR-Y  PIECE for the yellow RSC13 June...haven't had a whole lot of sewing time this week because....welll...it hasn't been a fun week for either of us...

my dear DH fell off the last two cellar steps and fractured his ankle (and various other parts!) and is now wearing an ankle boot, icing and generally resting.  (That little bell is getting annoying!  Hahaha--just kidding) His whole foot is purple--even his poor lil' toesies...

And, I am feeling a bit better--getting over my infection and feeling more human as each day goes by.  We are really kind of just resting our poor selves up for next week when we will be dog sitting for Libby for a week and for DH's gigs coming up..

Will be back posting soon...til then--have a great first weekend of Summertime

NOSTALGIA

BEACH HOUSES LONG AGO:  As I worked on this little wall hanging, I realized that it was really a trip down memory lane for me...those two tie-dyed pieces on the sides are leftover from a skirt that I used to wear (yes, really!)....in my "salad days".

And......I can even smell the seaweed and Coppertone when I look at this.  Funny, how things seem to all fall into some kind of pattern when you're working without a net....just pulling fabrics out "willy-nilly" (maybe that's why it's so hard for me to "organize" my fabrics in specific groupings???)

The yellow dotty print represents the fact that you really only ..."remember the sunny days" as you look back in your life....

the blues on the bottom represent all those deep sea anemones and jellies floating around in August at our beaches here in SE CT...and I just HAD to include that pinky flower! The little house on the right brings back the "ooohs and aaahs" of our fireworks displays with the kids...out on our beach lying on blankets under the stars.....good times....

I had no idea that just making up a few "liberated" beach houses would take me back to my youth...and bring so much happiness back to me...I can only say that it is magical...

Hugs to all, Julierose, La Blageuse

P.S.  See my post of June 7th for the "giveaway" ....
