On these I am pulling my oldest fabric leftovers,
as well as newer ones --mixing and matching...cutting
as needed...

Teeming downpours here right now;
and 60-70 mph high winds predicted for
later on today...
We pulled in all of our deck furniture and stacked it in our
dining room ... winds are picking up already...24 mph at
9 a.m.

We will be eating our big meal at noon today, as power outages
may occur later on when the winds pick up:

Tuna salad on the rest of our store-bought bread
(toasted) layered on lettuce leaves...
and
french fries..made in our new Air Fryer--YUM
We are waiting for our grocery delivery --they tell me NOW
it will be this coming Saturday--
it was going to be tomorrow...;000
I am out of milk (so, black tea and coffee!! ugh),
and no eggs either at the moment...
so no baking possible ...
But.................
Yesterday Thom helped me core 4 apples and two pears for
an Apple/Pear Pie...it came out pretty well...if a little on the
mushy side --I guess because the pears were in there...
but--it's dessert and sweet ;))))right???
Fingers crossed that the delivery will actually be Saturday...

But I am so grateful that we are staying healthy so far....

I gave up on ordering groceries as I would get to the end of my order only to be informed that no delivery options were available. I make a grocery trip once every two weeks for Hubby and I as well as our moms. I wear gloves and a mask. Thankfully there is a small family grocery store just a few blocks away from me that is fairly well stocked for a milk trip in between. I love the Courthouse Steps that you are working on. We are hoping our outdoor furniture stays where it is. We too are expecting wind gusts up to 70 mph with rain. I am staying in right now. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteHi! I brought my chairs indoors too, they broke free of their bungees. The waves are pounding the dunes and you know from pics how far up that is. No other flooding tho so far. Thanks for the idea of bringing the chairs inside, I never did that before except for hurricanes.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could bring you eggs and milk. [actually we do not have milk, my friend brought half-n-half, but that works.] You could bake bread, maybe? For fun? Add raisins etc if you have some? Of course prob the power will go at any moment.

Keeping busy is the secret to keeping our sanity these days, right? I've been doing the same...cooking and baking and sewing in between! I love apple and pear together, so I'm sure your pie tasted awesome. I'm still getting my own groceries weekly only because the delivery takes soooo long. Wearing my mask and sanitizing everything before it comes into the house is a must. Enjoy your day and I hope that delivery happens soon!
ReplyDeleteThere are egg-less cake recipes out there. They aren't as good as the regular ones but they do work in a pinch. Also, sometimes when my husband and I are hankering for dessert, I'll just make biscuits or dry fry some bread dough and we have it with jam. The courthouse steps blocks look lovely. I really enjoyed the blue piece with the birds, lighthouses, flowers, etc. Make a pillow top out of it so you can enjoy it on your couch.

ReplyDeleteAll those muted blues look lovely together - a scrap vortex of the blues? You know Cathy of Crazy by Design? She put together random blocks and called it Aqua Creature or something. Take a look for ideas :-) Hugs from afar.
P.S. I would put on my mask and fetch milk. Black Tea is UGH!!!

ReplyDeleteIts upsetting to think you may have power outages on top of lockdown. No milk, that would because disaster for me. But I guess, as you say, black tea or coffee is better than nothing. Hang in there, things will slowly get better, we all hope.

Those blue patches/slabs are so pretty in those blues. Will be fun to see what you do with them. Hope you are safe from the crazy weather, and I do hope your groceries arrive soon! We've given up on online ordering, for the same reason - the last time I checked I couldn't pick up the order for three weeks. So we go ourselves, suited up against all things, y'know?!

My goodness I hope the high winds didn't materialize! "Praying hands" that your groceries do arrive by Saturday. Your blue makings wall has such prettiness, and I love the Courthouse Steps.
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving the blue this month - not that it happens to be my favourite colour or anything of the sort! Grocery deliveries are certainly becoming an issue for many. Our #2 son had to wait 2 weeks to pick up his first order and hasn't been able to place one since. He can go so far as to place the order but there are then absolutely no pick up times available so they're out of luck. Fortunately he's found a very small Asian grocery store that has much of what they need and they are meticulous with cleanliness. They only allow one customer in the store at a time and the employees are gowned, masked and gloved and they do the actual picking of your selections, plus they give you hand sanitizer and gloves at the door. He feels quite safe there so that's a relief. Diapers were a concern and they discovered that Costco out there will deliver them...,phew.
ReplyDeleteMust have missed this post Julierose! Loving what you're doing with your blues. I'm sorry to read that your grocery delivery wasn't as planned, I have had great difficulty finding slots in the delivery timetables but now they have begun a Priority Service for folks like ourselves who are older, have underlying health problems and have to definitely stay home. I have just had a delivery and one planned for next week. I definitely would not like to have my tea without milk!
