⛇⛄
☃☃☃☃
We got about 1.5" of snow overnight...;)))
It has stayed on our lawns but the roadways
are clear--just wet...
soooo,
Tom and I thought we'd go to the supermarket
this morning to beat the rush--uh....
Nooooooooo...👺👹👽
NOPE!!!
Not even any parking spaces--
did we see--
so we turned around and came home...
😒😖
I will go out E A R L Y just when
the store opens up tomorrow to
pick up the last minute items...
******************************
As a treat for our disappointing trip
I fried up big, rolled-up
Flour Tortillas stuffed with
pickled red peppers, onions and
fried onions
topped with
Mexican cheeses
and sour cream
for our brunch!!
Y-----UU----UUUUM!!
;)))))))))))))))))
I have been a cooking fool lately--
I also put together a beef stew for
our dinner tonight
in our Slow Cooker...

Taaa--Daaaa!!
We now have a schedule for
Christmas family visits:
Candice & Co are coming
after 1 pm [When Cassidy
gets off work] on
Christmas Eve;
and
Jeff & Co will come
the day AFTER Christmas
to open gifts...
And so...
.I will be cooking
TWO TIMES
2x, twice
S I G H ...
Well, Christmas Day
Tom is making his spaghetti for the two
of us, so I have a day off...
Don't get me wrong, I L💖VE
having them all here, but I do
get tired a lot more easily
these days in my 80's!!!!
SO......
This will be my mantra:
↧↧↧↧
I saw this on kathysquilts
and thought, YES,
this is the way to go...

It is getting warmer here, maybe above freezing tomorrow. It looks like a big snow band going east but I think it might be north of you.
ReplyDeleteI ran out of sugar this morning so one more trip to the grocery store.
I'm right there with you concerning the two family meals back to back. I love my family but I don't have the stamina I used to.
ReplyDeleteGood grcocery warning! Was supposed to go to Trader Joe's for flowers and fresh bread, then drinks w a friend. Best to stay home, this year no tuulips for me, but not worth the craziness.
ReplyDeleteLove that family is coming. You do a lot of prep and cooking. Need to rest. The tortillas sound yoummy, as do all your meals.
It got warmer here, wind chill is 9* up from -1*. Yesterday with the gale winds was almost scary. Baby Mo is reduced to one walk per day, and he is baffled bec he loves the cold. [ears, paws, nope].
Merry Christmas!
Perhaps you should tell your family that next year they will have to contribute towards the meals by bringing things. One thing Resident Chef has discovered over the years is that it pays to cook the turkey a couple days in advance. He also does a make-ahead potato casserole as well as a make-ahead turnip dish...it all can be popped in the oven to reheat and the meal is done. We have a tiny little kitchen and there simply isn't room for doing a whole lot of on-the-day prep. He made the potato and turnip dishes and they're in the freezer waiting to be unthawed. I'm trying to convince him that serving it buffet style is the way to go too, but we'll see on that one.
ReplyDeleteps...it was -22C here this morning and right now (6 pm) it's sitting at -18C.
ReplyDeleteI'd be lazy and grab something easy from the store! Glad you are getting family time though. Brrr. That is cold.
ReplyDeleteHmm... yes, 80s, tired- I hear you! I don't know why, but I'm always surprised when I arrive at the supermarket and find no parking spaces. Enjoy your gatherings, and then take a nice winter's nap.
ReplyDeleteWe sent the cold snap to you -- but on its heels is a warming trend! Upper 30's here by Christmas Day. Your ad hoc cooking sounds delicious. (I discovered a bag of leftover lamb in the freezer -- dated March! -- and made shepherd's pie to use it up.)
ReplyDeleteOur temps have been in the teens as well, not at noon though. We are supposed to be in the 50s at Christmas and later in the week. Enjoy your holiday time with family!
