I've finally begun quilting my "Lollipop Flower Medallion"
the first ever medallion style quilt I've made....
along with Audrey.
She held a
SAL tutorial for 3 quilts
in her style and methods
on her blog...

I am using WonderFil Perle
Cotton #8 in the ecru color of 904..
All my central piece is done in
raw edge applique style--
I really l💜ve all those
raggedy, frayed edges..;)))))

It is a very gray, rainy, and windy day
here so I lit our little tabletop tree
when I first got up to give our
tv room a bit of warmth and color...
Here is a little sample of how it glows--so comforting
on this raw Winter's day--
And all our beautiful
snow has been washed away
now with this
rain....;(((((((
It is but a lovely memory as
our temp is 52 right now...
So soft and hushed......

I did my final "big" shop before
Christmas yesterday and I am
hoping that I won't have to go back
for any forgotten items....👋
I now have all the makings for
my fudge; I plan on making
two batches this weekend:
Chocolate/Orange with almonds
and
White Chocolate with cranberries
and walnuts....
I look forward to these all year long and
only make it for Christmas gifts
{and us, too of course}.

has begun sending up shoots...
If I remember correctly this will be
a pink one....

One of my friends gifts me with an amaryllis every year so it's starting to put up shoots and I'm looking forward to the beautiful blooms. It's a red and white one this year.
ReplyDeleteOh, your fudge sounds so yummy. Do you use orange extract or orange peel? Do you use dried cranberries in the white fudge? I was thinking about making white cherry walnut fudge but I've never made it before. Do you think chopped maraschino cherries would work or should I use the candied cherries that is in fruitcake. I miss Audrey"s posts too. She is such a unique quilter.
ReplyDeleteLollipop Flower Medallion is lovely, Julierose. I like the raw edge applique'. The lights in the tree are so pretty. I love to have the Christmas lights on early in the morning. The plants are looking very healthy. I hope you have blooms on Christmas day.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like 2 bud stalks on your waxed Amaryllis. They don't get as tall before they bloom unlike the ones planted in pots.
I'm glad you got to enjoy snow for a few days. Our snow is melting fast but we had a cold day today, mid-teens. Tomorrow 41 so that should take care of most that is on grassy surfaces. The snow on the north side of the house is the last to melt. With close to 60 predicted on Christmas day, all of it should be gone.

ReplyDeleteSo much goodness in this post - the magical photo of your glowing tree, that peaceful snow scene, your hand stitches in your medallion quilt, the growing amaryllis bulbs, the mention of homemade fudge . . . p.s. we have the lights on our big tree lit from the time we get up until we go to bed again.

ReplyDeleteIs the treble clef ornament made from woven wheatstraw? So pretty with the lights. I made a center panel for Bramble Blooms and that's as far as I got. Maybe that will be the starter for SAHRR 2026 which Gail just announced! Meanwhile, Merry Happy to you and Tom!
