Yesterday was a "double-dipping" day for me; not only Mother's Day but also my 70th (yikers--how did that happen????) birthday. Altho' MAY is our "blue" month and even though I am in my 70's now...(sigh), how can a person be blue when: 

My wonderful friend of many years and musical partner, Mary Ann, brought me this:

It's quite a "highbrow" plant--all my others are whispering among themselves:      She's called "Portulacaria Africanis Variegata". 

And here's a close up of her calling card...isn't that just so serene....I love it!

BLUES IN MAY (RSC-13)

HERE are the first "made fabrics" for the RSC13 month of May --sapphire blues...








AND:

You can see that some are not really sapphire--but my blues (I found out) are limited..

And I thought this little flower print kind of looked like little sea flowers..
most of my blues are sea-themed...


Here is how the big pieces look:  I sewed the bits and bobs together--what fun!!  I need a break from "seriousness"--seriously (LOL) right now.  

Bigger pieces to be cut into -- I don't know yet what shape(s) (blogger all of a sudden made my print very small!!  Ack!)

RSC13- HOW BLUE AM I?

Spring has come on tippy-toes here; one warm day, the next windy and cold!  
Our new color for May in RSC13 is Blue--but Bright blues.  

I find it difficult to distinguish the brights in my scraps; maybe because they are mostly pieces of novelty prints and have lotsa colors and blue predominant? 

AND, I want to sew up some "made" fabric I think as these scraps are small--no biggies!  

I am still sorting..you'd think I'd have a lot of blues..but not so...will post more on this as I begin to sew....

AND now here is my latest work on my cross (emphasis on cross!) stitchery:

 I was working along (minding my business--when whap, slam, alacazam!) I mis-counted>  My (free spirited) bird is one little thread too low!  How did i do this?????I counted, re-counted, got a cup of tea and sipped some, took a deep breath and counted yet again...and 

STILL DID IT WRONG---aaargh! 
I hear the distant peeps of many "frogs" chorusing up my street and coming for a visit!  Oh, no!  I have to UNDO it.  This is a lot of hours work....and so it goes mes amies...Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme...

I leave you with the vision of me undoing all those lil' stitches.  DH thinks I should leave it there--but I will always K N O W it's there..Hmmmpfh!

THIS ONE'S FOR YOU, MISSIE

HEADLINE:  CLEMATIS SURVIVIES LONG, BRUTAL WINTER....

How exciting is this, Missie?  The clematis sprigs you sent me are coming up  and spreading.  And another smaller one, too!

I am afraid to move them yet; I read that they like their "feet" in the shade and their "heads" in the sun; but, this is full sun all day long--what do you think?

Let them go a bit longer and then move them?

I covered their little "feet" with pottery shards and as it's still kinda coolish (the wind is downright cold off the ocean) here, I think I'll let them stay for a bit until they get a little more root system established.

GO! BABY GREEN HEXIES & MORE....

I am working on finishing the back of my Pansies Tabletopper and will be bordering it with RSC13 greens! I used my Go! Baby cutter to cut all those greens and more purple pansies to finish up the back. 

The green row is the outside border and all the purple pansies will inhabit the inner sections--

One side of this small project contains 360 hexagons!! So, this side will add another 360--yowsers!!  720 (right??) and also 360 little batting hexagons ---hmmmm--I really am using that hexie die to death!! 

I plan to quilt it by machine (deep breath....a first for me!!)

There is a little peek up there at my next project--which will have to remain a secret...for now. Nothing like my usual work--very modern looking!  

And here are some little bits and pieces in a log-cabin-style setting that I fooled around with a bit--just for fun...

my greens are disappearing....

and so is April...soon the Merry Month of May will be dancin' in...I wonder what color will be next????

Thom and I walked on the river today and saw ducks, hawks and ospreys...just lovely...but the wind off the water is still C O L D!

TUESDAY BLUES AND TUESDAY JOYS

Today, I made the reverse for my Christmas Cactus wall hanging from these three blocks I made quite a while ago.  I really like how they came out ;--))).

The border is sooo vintage that lovely soft blue with the vines...

{After a tough visit to my Mom today, I needed to perk myself up---}                 and....
This did it for sure...I may even like this side better than the medallion......and....
it's just little bits and pieces and leftovers all scrapped together..

DORA, DORA :Some Progress (Counted Cross Stitch Post) & HEXAGON-ORAMA

Here is the outlining border of my Sampler -- I know it doesn't look like much--BUT:  This took me 1 1/2 weeks to set up, measure and stitch (if you click on pix, you can see just how teeny-weeny those little crosses are!)

And Here is my first alphabet letter: "a" done in that yummy red--just dark enough, and not too orange-y!

Trying to find "WHERE" to begin the letter took two nights of poking, counting and putting it down and coming back!!  When I used to do needlepoint, we pre-marked our penelope canvas to aid counting; here those tiny cross threads remain blank--aaargh!

I AM enjoying the stitching a whole lot.  It is a nice change from quilting.
  
                                                   AND:

I have cut more hexies (addict, that I am!!) and am making a backer for my hexie table topper the exact same size as the original; then, I will put my pre-cut hexie batting pieces on the back of the front (LOL) and quilt the whole thang together!! (YAY for my GO! BABY cutter which cut through the batting like butter!) .  I will post pix next time--able to use some of my RSC13 scraps of green on these, too.  

My B-day is coming up and DH suggested that I get a few more dies for the GO as his gift to me.  I am ordering today!  (I am not one to shilly-shally on that offer!!).
