AIDE-MEMOIRE
What was set up for the Surprise quilt has been transformed into
VOILA!!!
a Nouveau Ladies workshop.
(NOTE TO MY READERS:
This post is mainly to remind me of how I'd like to set up the borders.... Feel free to skip if you are not into this stuff.....;--)))) )
Couched ribbons with little rosettes holding down each corner and holding the ends...
You get the idea....let's hope I will....
{as a side note..........and a memory..........}
....... here is my Mom's old Sewing Basket that she rescued from a flea market and
painted and lined:
It has become the repository for my Crazy Quilting supplies and unfinished blocks...
she was a precise person and this turned out beautifully....
See the lining--an old favorite fabric of mine. She took apart the innards of this basket somehow (I am definitely not good at that stuff!) and then re-tacked it with tiny nails inserting that liner. perfectly neatly...yep--that's her work alright!!
Every time I sew on my Nouveau Ladies I think of her working on this.....
Here is my little "cheat sheet" and some of my laces that i got from Raviole Dreams on Etsy...a few years back....
AND
i had to use this beautiful hand dyed heart on the left side to match..................
this nouveau kind of fleur-de Lis on the opposite.
So Ladies, i have my hand work cut out for me for the Summer.
Thanks for stopping by...think of me on my back deck couching those ribbons....a definite challenge....

NOUVEAU LADIES REDUX
Rmember us??? We've been stashed away in her closet--she says she couldn't find a
border for us...hmmmmphf! When we saw all those Geishas prancing about on her design wall we began to take out our lutes and lyres and play sad dirges to get her to finally get a border on us.....
Note from Moi: It has taken me over a year to find this border! Nothing has looked right.
But i like this fern and woodsy batik a lot...I like the way it draws this block into view especially
I had hand embroidered this fern freely and I do like the effect....
Here is the entire block
It is time to decide whether or not i will add more stitching on this border....to highlight the ferns more as this is a very dark print....
If you follow the labels "Nouveau Ladies" back in time, you can see all the blocks and my journey in Crazy Quilting and stitchery...

EARLY SPRING GREENS
Here's my RSC "Crosses" block for May.......these are greens the colors of fresh Spring leaves just emerging.....
AND
HERE'SSSSSSS ..... Green Sssssssssssnakie--
it came out from underneath the front bushessssss to ssssssun itssssssself
MEANWHILE:
This Geisha was GREEN with envy seeing the other ones get their Day in the Sun so she
insisted on joining in on the fun
She is a little shy after having been stashed away inside my closet for so long--also
she is afraid of sssnakie--so she is just peeking out tentatively LOL

SPRING FLING
A work in progress--we planted (actually who am i kidding?--DH planted) our little Japanese Maple and the two little Mungo Pines....and the rocks. We both spread the mulch this afternoon. The wind off the water here is still pretty chilly, but all this activity does warm you up!! Just being outside is so wonderful!!
And, yes!!, here's my little "Always Afternoon" daylily coming out to soak up the sun.....
When my back started complaining I stood and drank in this lovely scene:
I think although those sparkly yellow daffs are lovely, I really love those salmon hearted ones best....maybe.....
The weather forecast here is for a warming trend beginning tomorrow; DH will extend the bed around our rock to enclose my three roses (names unknown: anonymous roses...we'll have to see what colors they come out) . And then we'll spread more mulch....off-dah!
I think a lil glass of vino is in order this evening.....feet up, a little music, followed by a roast chicken dinner. Ahhhh, what could be better.....
Hugs to you all on this lovely day,
Julierose, La Blageuse Garden-euse
