ELEPHANTS ON PARADE

                    The latest three done this morning......

And if I've said this before I apologize--can you see how the cut edge that came on this 1.5" strip (I did not touch it) is so wave-y and raveling??

I put it on my cutting mat and if you look closely (sorry for the close-up blurring) you can make out its uneveness and raveling--in order to fix (??) this I am using the pinked edges of the 2.5" strips as my straight edge---we'll see how this works;000

While I was sewing this morning, I was listening to ABC Radio's Piano Classics--so relaxing--time to go and practice myself this afternoon....

I'll leave you with visions of elephants tip-toe-ing daintily through fields of flowers today....

GARDENING & ANNOYANCES

My irises are  so ready to bloom--if the weather would get warmer......

And my Bleeding Hearts are already coming along....

and
this little flower appeared among my irises this year--
I don't know what it is
but it is pretty....
we are working really hard to try to beautify our little acreage here...
AND
For my little herb patch.........this year

I am planning on basil, tarragon, Italian Parsley and scented
geraniums this year....

Today we went to see Connor and Gregory play baseball--it was
SO COLD--and WINDY--we just froze!!  It felt like March--I couldn't
get any pictures as the whole field was fenced in--it has taken me 2 hours to warm up and many cups of tea....;00


Unfortunately, these sights that follow---do not beautify anything!!

This is the sight that we see NOW on our neighbors' abutting front lawn:

We are not too thrilled--to say the least.....and it appears that it will be staying there....;000 !!!

previously, the BIG BLUE BUS was visible from our tv room and back deck:

And the boat was parked on our circle

So everywhere we looked we saw either the bus or the boat....
and now ...well, enough said--we are not happy campers.....

Everyone else in our area makes a superb effort to have their properties look nice to everyone else....but not our neighbors as luck would have it....

And so it goes....

FOUR MORE

As i sew more and more of these blocks, I am falling in love with these fabrics all over again.....

This is my favorite (I think ;00) of these four....the border strips just glow..

and this aqua is just so wonderful....how can you choose??? 

More subtle letting the center shine through....just so lovely

And another softer, more expressionistic look here....

Let the fabric do the talking is my new motto....

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

                                Happy (Rainy) Mother's day to all you Mommies out there!!

                                        I hope you get to talk to or see your children today....

                                                Missing my Mom on this, the 1st Mother's day
                                                     since she has been gone....;-((((

But, we had a whole lot of them together and I cherish many good memories...

I am sitting and sipping my morning cup of java and slowly entering the world of the wide "awakers.".lol

Still no sewing to show you..but here are a few pix of my mystery book shelf for your bibliophiles out there...
{.I used to bring a book (we both loved a good mystery) when I visited Mom, and read to her--she loved that and would doze off and dream......}

*Today is National Scrapbooking Day...here is my page to begin the month of May
in my Project Life Album....I was so happy to see that lavender come up and those budded
branches just made me think that Spring is here...despite the cold, raw and windy weather...

and here is a page from our Travel Album detailing part of our trip to Germany in 1989 : (I also need to revisit our various other trips and cruises....a lot to play catch up on......

this page pictures the central Mozart Platz in Austria; I used (in the smaller middle section) trial quilting stitch fabrics that i saved.  i was checking out Helga for machine quilting and these two flowery pieces remind me of the fabrics and linens available in the German stores....
We had SUCH a lovely trip--i love using both paper and fabric in my albums....my two passions....

Yes, that is me standing and watching the giant outdoor chess match....(i was so much thinner--and younger  holey moley!! 1989...time flies....) and I love to scrap to look back and to detail today....
on this NSD i have been watching videos, live streams and spending my Scrappin' Saturday relaxing...DH got me a neat pair of headphones so I can listen while the tv is on....he is a true sweetie

These Tula Pink fabrics are just so vibrant....and yet soft.....

I would have a hard time choosing which was my favorite.

I sewed these three together early this afternoon, ooh-ing and ah-ing over each one....
now I have 9 of the 35 done....(Can you find Mrs. Elephant & her crew???? ;)))))
