(DASTERDLY) DEER DESSERT ET AL

Aren't they lovely???

Well, read on.............mes amies

These  (Above) are all "before" the deer came through and

 this is AFTER ;000

Totally eaten...totally cut down....deer dessert!!;;000000

And so I am going to have to dig them up and either Winter them over inside in my backroom fridge or try them elsewhere....

On the quilt front....

I have begun quilting the top and bottom borders now--
HELGA does a nice job..;)))

Here's a closer looksee...Helga's walking foot edge was my measuring stick, so to speak lol

that's one down and one to go...then the side borders...

And that's a Saturday here; we walked on the CT River this morning and we will be having
BLT's with homemade oven french fries for dinner (I, will only be having a
BLT Salad...waaaah....still trying to whittle down my poundage....it is tough...

hugs to you all, (Go Sox, Red, that is!!)

FIREWORKS & QUILTWORKS

                                         HURRAH! HUZZAH! yay!!
(This display from the 4th off of our deck...)

this is what i am celebrating this afternoon:

The first half of the center is quilted--nothing fancy--just straight lines--
but DONE: ;)))

Just two double  (semi  ;000) straight lines around each block....

Now for part DEUX...after some tea and a back break--perhaps later on
today

REMEMBRANCE

Remember my Grief cloth that I began after Mom died???? It is all hand embroidered now and
I wasn't able to "see" how I could set it--

I have decided to set my "Circles of My Life" around it,,,
a "moving on" piece...
this idea came to me early this morning as I was just awakening
from a deep sleep....
this will be my Medallion hand piece for the summertime
this year....

I have many more circles left and perhaps will add more rounds of my own
sun  dyed cloth squares that i made years ago...and more appliqued hearts
also....
Somehow this just "feels" right to me....rounds of life continuing
after mourning....flying out into the future, piecing my life back together..

DEER DESSERT

I am so happy that I took these pictures yesterday--
BECAUSE:
as of this morning the

deer have E A T E N all my lilies..even the buds have been chewed off....

This beautifully colored tigerlily hadn't even opened all the way

thank heavens they don't like my Santolina--it is bursting with blooms...
it is very fragrant so perhaps that keeps them away...G O O D !!!!!

they also have given my basil a miss
;--)))
I have pinched off the tops and
am drying the leaves inside--hopefully this will make the plants bushier...

As I haven't finished ANY quilts in June  :0,
but rather  have been wrestling with
Cassidy's quilt in progress...

(I have both long strips of 10 blocks each sewn together-
finally!!  And I also cut the batting and am ready to pin
baste so that I can machine
Quilt As You Go those two sections....
And we have company coming this weekend, so I will have to wait
until I can use my dining table to do this first step....)

So,
Today, I just thought I'd at least show you my
flower "memories"...

I will be scrapbooking these pictures in my 2016
 Garden Journal..
I did some work  on that Tigerlily photo
on a 12 x 12 page this afternoon....I had it enlarged to 5x7 and
I love how my new lens totally blurred the background...

I hope you will be having a wonderful Fourth of July weekend....

KITTY CUT-UPS

I found this adorable purple-y kitty fabric in my stash....and this will be the
borders for Cassidy's quilt.  Not only is it purple but has kitties on it to remind
her of her kitty at home when she goes to college.

Both sides will feature just the trees and the top and bottom will
have the kitties under those trees:

I have begun sewing the two long rows into twosies and will then do QAYGo
on the long centers and do the borders separately with a fancier quilting...

I  like the kitten fabric as it maintains my love of old fashioned fabrics
against the newer modern ones....

WHILE i PONDER....

I took out this VERY old totally hand project I had started along with Mom
Cathedral Windows...she used Dad's old ties for hers on muslin...

Here is a close up of the fabrics...so many eons ago.....I want to finish
this one into a nice table topper....

Her is the 2nd block I had started that i am now working on--out
on our deck's glass top table in the early morning coolness....

Long ago stored in this Whitman's Sampler tin of chocolates I gave Mom
for Mother's day....
(Note to self: I used my telephoto lens on the 1st two pix and my
smaller wider angle lens on the 2nd two....have been wanting
to check out my new lens that I got for my birthday)

So while I ponder (alone and weary lol) about Cass' quilt,
I need to busy myself and my hands with some fabric work; I can only
knit for a couple rows on my "gift" shawl--which i cannot show you
yet...;--00 (ve haf lurkers....)lol

Today is for Lotus Eaters...out on the deck;
But I did 30 minutes on the treadmill after one hour yesterday on
the boardwalk (off-dah!) !

hugs and many thanks for all your input...so far the "butter-uppers" have the most votes....i am leaning that way too..and did find some really cute
kitty fabric that might be ok for borders even though it is a print....

I hate being on "the fence"...but am biding my time .....definitely
in pondering mode...

P.S.  for my scrapbooking followers be sure to watch Shimelle's latest
video on YouTube--it is wonderful on "Week in the Life"

I DON'T THINK SO....

My lavender fabric arrived--ironed it, folded it, and cut strips--
pinned it up to see....

BUT: (waaah;--000)

I am not liking it!
I think it is too light and doesn't play well with the white
strips in each block....What do you think????

Here's the right side...I think it looks just blah...

And I don't want to use white ...any suggestions will be appreciated.

Now i am thinking I should just butt up all the squares to each other and then
look for border fabric--hmmmm

I pulled a few fabrics out of my stash closet, but nothing seems to go well--
too busy, too dark, just too, too!!  ;00

Meanwhile, my santolina is in bloom--it loves dryness and survives lack
of rain--good thing, as we really are dry here....
