I talked about re-entry hand quilting
in my previous post; the top pear
fabric shows my very first efforts...
and the bottom one shows
my stitching today.
I slowed waaay down and
did just one stitch at a time.
I am feeling a lot better working
this way...[do you call this stab
stitching? ] I don't know, but it
seems to be working for me
right now...

I am also only working every 2-3
days on this hand quilting project
to make sure my hands don't
get really sore...

My granddaughter, Willa, has an
August birthday coming up and
she just got her ears pierced--
she will be 9 👧.
and....
She just loves little foxes...
I found this pair of earrings
for her present:
Aren't they just the cutest things???
I think she will love
wearing them--
at least I hope so...

Another hot, humid day has dawned here;
I did an early morning stroll just around
our cul-de-sac and found it difficult
to even get an air!!

Julierose, I don't notice too much difference in the stitches but I think it's important that you stitch in a way that's comfortable for you and that you like the results. Isn't it great to find a use for even the smallest pieces of much-loved fabrics?!

Your quilting looks great. It is so satisfying to stitch away. . . Canning season started today with bottled tomatoes and green beans in the freezer. So, the canner is heating up the house while the bottles boil. It's been the hottest July on record around here with more 100 degree days than before. July is our hottest month so I hoping for a reprieve in August. Darling earrings for your granddaughter.

ReplyDeleteThe tiny foxes for Willow are adorable, so special. She will love them/ Have you seen the Fox quilt block? It would be fun even if you only made one, maybe on a denim jacket back or drawstring backpack?Much as I love summer---oh that heat and humidity! I was lightheaded when I walked Mo at dinnertime yesterday, like my feet weren't on the ground. Felt fine later w a cold drink in front of the bedroom AC. Everyone must use caution.

ReplyDeleteYour hand quilting is beautiful and I love all the pretty fabrics in that quilt. It must be some much fun to revisit each one as you quilt. I totally understand limiting how much you use your hands. One reason I have so many different projects in progress at once is so I avoid repetitive use pains. Happy Birthday to your granddaughter. I love the look of hand stitched quilts. I completely understand the wanting to get-'er-done and going the machine route, but I think those quilts lose something special.
