Here are the 2nd and 3rd pages in my
[#Roxy's Journal of stitchery Vol 9" on YT]
Fabric book...
a Dark and sad page..πͺ
.
"Mi Corazon Rota" = my heart is broken
in Spanish.
I am using the story from the novel:
"Love in the Time of Cholera"
by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
for the month of February's pages.
I have just finished
basting everything down
and am beginning to
whip stitch the bird
representing love
flying away beyond reach
in the night sky...

Our weekly #Hillside Heart" [YT]
prompts this time were:
"Dog and
Friendship."
Here is my interpretation using an
old family photo along with
magazine images,
inks, and a circle stencil.
I used leftover fabric to make the
little tabs that came
from scraps I used under my
machine sewing needle...
hence all the stitching....
πππ
This one was a lot of fun to make...
a "happy page" ;)))))
{it's funny that when I first get
the prompts I wonder how in the world I
will be able to use both on one spread...}
This one is a very simple
spread on one page.
The old family photo sits on top of
my prompt card and slips into the
bottom page pocket made from just
folding the edge of my own
teabag stained paper over.

We are watching the Luge Event
in the Olympics right now...
relaxing after a light lunch...
Tonight's dinner will be a
a very simple one:
An omelet with
peppers and onions,
two strips of crisp bacon each
and toast with jam...
***********************
Tomorrow noon my
daughter and her SO
are dropping by for lunch with us
after going to a local concert
tonight nearby...
I will be making my own
minnestrone soup,
a green salad, and
serving snowflake rolls
with cheesecake for dessert...
(yummmummmm)
My kind of meal..;))))
Hope you are enjoying this
long weekend...

Sounds like you're having some enjoyable and yummy days, Julierose! I like seeing what you're doing in your stitching and paper crafting journals. I have those fabric scraps that I use under my needle at times - never would have thought to use them in a journal - you are so creative!
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed with how you interpret the prompts for your fabric book. I love seeing your progress! Sounds like a great lunch for your daughter and her SO!!
ReplyDeleteI think you do a great job with the prompts, Julierose. Dog and Friendship is well represented on your newest page. I so enjoy having breakfast for dinner. I know it's my imagination but it seems like it taste better at night LOL.
ReplyDeleteDog and friendship sounds like an easy prompt and your page looks great.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your family time and delicious lunch.
We had that very same omelet for breakfast this morning (but no bacon...ham instead).
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the laughter in those faces on your page. Such joy!
Yes please to Minnestrone soup and cheesecake. =) I've watched the Luge events as well. Oh my goodness....I don't know how they stay upright at those speeds. Is that photo of the little girl with the dog, you, Julierose?? The lovely journal pages just keep on keeping on at your place.
ReplyDeleteDogs + Friends - awesome combination and lovely interpretation on your newest page.
ReplyDeleteYour collage journals, both paper and fabric are so creative and beautiful. Do you keep stacks of magazines and catalogs for finding images?
ReplyDeleteLunch sounds delish! Hope you have a fun and not overtiring visit.
Did you get snow? It was blizzarding last night, I was not expecting that!
Whew! Glad there was a happy page after the dark and sad page. What a fun way to play with art. It's looking fantastic.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pages, Julierose. I love them both! You are so good at creating these pages.
ReplyDeleteThat description of your yummy food made my mouth water. Meanwhile, I remember enjoying Gabriel's book a while back and how clever you are to use it in your interpretation. You really are so creative, Julierose. Happy Creating and Eating from me, :)
