I've sewed all the precut all blues
strip sets I cut yesterday
plus 4.5" sq inserts into rows...
I used this chart from Rose's tutorial

and this chart is so easy to follow
when using her precut amounts...

instead of a varied charm pack..I've
had that Fern-ey batik print for
yonks in my stash!! And
my idea is:
blue skies and
Spring's emerging ferns..

PLUS.....
I have enough strip sets cut
to make a 2nd quilt
the same size...with my
leftover cuts...
well worth the time and effort for me...

I love those blues in your jelly roll quilt. The design is pretty, too. Good that you can get two quilts using one jr and Rose's pattern. I haven't had Swedish meatballs in ages, sounds sooo good.

ReplyDeleteI love the blue batiks have had some of that same color of the lighter shade - last I looked I think the jelly rolls were about $44-49? something like that - really crazy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blues, Julierose! Great that you can get two quilts from one jelly roll. Fabric has become so expensive. In addition, I have to pay high shipping rates (don't get anything quilt related here). I try to use as much as possible from my stash and not buying unless I need it to finish some projects.

ReplyDeleteI like this idea so much more than the jelly roll race style. I don't like jelly rolls (or any pre-cuts, for that matter). I have a few that were gifted. I'm thankful for my large stash, purchased mostly during sales while I was still working. The prices have just gotten ridiculous and I also don't care for the digitally printed fabrics which have a funny finish. Enjoy you night off from cooking and the Swedish meatballs.

Of course you know I love this because I love blue! And yes, the price of fabric (and yarn) has gone through the roof so it's an added incentive to use what we already have.
ReplyDeleteGreat design! "For yonks"--hadn't thought of that phrase for, well, yonks! Your blues are delicious. I've been given, or won, a couple of jelly rolls but I have never purchased one. $$ for sure.
