My 1st "lego-style" block.
I used leftover 1.5" strips
sewed end to end to end--
[ad infinitum!!]
cutting as I went.
Yesterday I took the long strips and
precut them randomly into smaller
sections...
This enabled me, this morning, to
just sew 2 by 2 and then 4 by 4 --
adding bits that I needed to
reach 11" +/- in length...
Since I want my blocks to be 10.5"
(unfinished) I am sewing my strips
about 11" to be trimmed up
as needed...
And,
I will be cutting more strips to
add to the ones on hand now...
I will call this "ARASHI"
the Japanese word for
grey or stormy.

Up on the other end of my design wall
are the "Melange" blocks being
sewn together bit by bit...

the usual vertical layout...
This will be a nice little lap quilt--
I may have to make
another and gift them to
les grandgirls!!

And so much for not starting
any new projects,
Uh--nope!!
But, [I rationalize],
I am doing the coins and the
Autumn Ojos which are
UFOs, too...
Sewing together slowly...
and
Ojos only has three
blocks left to hand quilt.

Today was a wind-lashed rainy day
for us here...
also
Tom and I both
got our Covid Booster and flu shots!
So far no reactions...

You have so many great design ideas, Julierose! I love the lego-style blocks especially. And, I agree, the zipper blocks look really neat set horizontally. So many fun things to work on!
ReplyDeleteArashi looks fun and is great for using up all the scraps. Melange blocks are very pretty together. I liked them horizontally too. Sounds like very soon Ojos quilting will be completely done. Happy stitching and have a great week, Julie. Hugs

ReplyDeleteInteresting that you were able to get the covid booster and your flu shot at the same time. Won't work for us though because we have to wait until December for our next covid shot and I don't want to wait that long for the flu shot.
I love all your projects! The Arashi Legos looks so fun. I have to book an appointment for both Covid and flu for both me and my mom. I was hoping they'd have a Covid clinic but nothing in my area.

ReplyDeleteWhat fun blocks you have! I like how you have those Melange blocks set. Glad you have your vaccines for the fall. I have the flu but not the booster. Maybe I'll get it tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteLove all your projects, you're certainly keeping busy!! Lego blocks are always fun and easy once the strips are cut and Melange is coming along nicely, the horizontal setting looks good. Ojos will soon be a finished piece, looking forward to seeing that!
