LET'S TWIST AGAIN....

My sweetie is off traveling to a gig today and so....this is what I did:

I sewed my blocks and then put the whole" shebang" together.  I am ambivalent about the results and the process ( I am such a "process" person being a pianist and teacher).  Perhaps it's the colorways....I just don't know.  Maybe a border or two or:    using it as a Medallion might make me like it better. 

Here is a little bit of a closer look....it's kinda "mooshie" the twisters go in and out and are not defined all over...we'll see.....Julierose, La Blageuse....

Spiderwebs (in my jardin) Spotted Saturday Special

I got the black and white spotted fabric borders sewn on this afternoon.  The black makes those spiders really pop out, I think....My spiderwebs  are pretty wonky...(anyone else have trouble with all those crossing seam allowances???--yikes--pretty thick to sew over--I will say my Viking tore right through them--even when I graded them a little they were t-r-o-u-b-l-e!!) AND:  presser feet:  my 1/4 foot doesn't really hold that well--VERY disappointing.  And I tense up.  And get a sore neck.  (*%$$***).

I think I will "tie" this one--the thought of hand quilting over all those seams or trying to machine over them doesn't sound right to me.  I also want to "try out" mosaic piecing for a strip across the back...

The wonky crow fabric is waving bye-bye--all gone....I really have used up all but a few crumbs--it is one of my all-time favorite fabrics--so funny and cute and bright. 

(Note to Twist-a-long {see my sidebar}folks:  I starched both sides of my layout!  Hopefully, the dire prognostications about those pesky "bias edges" won't come true.... or my Twist and Shout will be pretty loud!!)

TWIST AND SHOUT for PRESIDENT'S DAY

I added the roses tone-on-tone border to my Twister Quilt-a-long: 

I like the way it blends with  and makes the the overall peach-to-tangerine colors pop out:

I really, REALLY  LOVE that fabric; it's so subtle and soft toned. 

Today we walked our neighborhood:= Hills, hills and more hills (OOOff-dah!!)

BUT:    I cannot find any fabric to border my Seaflowers hexagon piece--nothing seems to strike me.  Maybe I should just hang it on the design wall and something will come to me. (Hopefully)

I keep on seeing OTHER quilts I want to make--my list is already waaaay toooo loooong.....

2. Mosaic of some sort

3.  Crosses Plus

4.  Halloween wall quilt for my daughter

5.  Pillow for Mom (with funny Dr. Seuss fabric 

6.  Christmas smallish reversible quilt for Fiona (with Moon and Stars on the Back)

7. Cheddar Bow Tie Medallion

8. Bonnie Hunter's Blue Ridge Medallion (I have been using these as "leaders and enders" and have a lot done already  --waiting in the wings --so to speak.....)

This, doesn't even mention the hexagon project I am doing now....

Well, you can be sure I am never bored!!  I am sad that Downton Abbey is finished for this season....am now reading (in honor of Regency England and all) "Austenland" by Shannon Hale and so far, it's pretty funny.  (I just cannot read "Pride and Prejudice" one more time again....every summer, I take it to the beach--)

AND:
My sweetie and I went for a stroll at our State Park this noontime--it was crowded with dogwalkers, people picnic-ing, sunbathers--and this is Feb 19th!!  As you looked across the ocean, you could just make out the storm clouds on the horizon--5 miles more this way and it would be snowing to "beat the band"!  We are soooo lucky....

Saturday Success

I was able to post my "Lil Twister" pix to Flickr Group---yay!!!! My first try on that!!

Here is that picture of Week One:  All sewn together (Ahem:  alert--it seems (seams??? you can groan here) that I have a little trouble matching seams and sewing straight lines....yikes--this new machine is really different from my old Pfaff--which had that great built-in walking foot--No-thing moved under that one....well, guess I'll get used to my Viking (they came down from the North, slashing their way: this way and that--and unfortunately, THAT'S how my fabric is going!!)  Sigh.....well, most of the corners are really matched up ...

Here is a little view of what I may use for a border--being SUCH a texture freak...

This is an older Robyn Pandolphe  (sp???)fabric that I love....tone on tone--and bien sur:  Roses. Again.  I can almost smell them.....ahhhhh Summer:   Gotta love 'em....

And:

I have to love the potato soup which I am making in my crock pot for dinner (see, in our world, if you have a light soup dinner, you can then have a "snack" while watching tv--yup that's our rule)....that and walking 5 out of 7 days...(now, I admit, that one is tough to do...we can but try...)  Love and hugs to all of you--have a great President's Holiday weekend  Mmmmmwah....  Julierose, La Blageuse

TWIST & SHOUT

Needing a "Small project" with all these gi-normous ones going on--(-a little respite) I came across this quilt-along on Rosemary's (thanks RO) blog and decided to do it!!


Here is my 5" charm lay out for the Lil Twister Quilt-a-long from http://craizeecorner.blogspot.com

 It's a grouping  5"charm pack from Moda "Curio" by Basic Grey....I hope to catch up by sewing these together this weekend and then choosing a border...hmmmm...this is fun but not so easy to picture how it will look--kind of a  mysteriously intuitive process ---doncha think???  Once they are sewn together I will attempt to put them on the flicker group (never done that before either....fingers crossed) I remain as always.....
