CHRISTMAS OJOS QUILTING, et al

I began hand quilting my
Christmas Ojos table topper
on Christmas Eve...

I just love hand quilting these
 ojos-type pieces.
So relaxing and easy
to see where to quilt...
And i love how they look
all crinkled up with
quilting;))))

FYI for my Decluttering Amigas:

Now that my tables and cutting board
are all cleared off--I can begin
to work on my glue booking
magazines today.
This will be my Day Three
as
my back needs a rest
from reaching
and
stretching
and
bending over.

I will be paging through
 two bins-full of
catalogues,
magazines,
and
Ads;
and culling images
 that I think
I can use in my
"En Masse Journal",
"Color Glue Book"
and my
"Anything Goes"
Glue book...

The only foreseeable problem here is
if I get distracted by
 little images
I want to
 "fussy cut"!;)))

**************************************
I must say that after my clean-up
of stuff on my surfaces,
I kind of am "paralyzed" as to
what to sew next...
The ideas just aren't flowing...

[Am I hesitant to "mess things up again"??]

There are:
No little pieces of fabric
out there
that say:
"Oooh, now I go
so well with
that one--SEE???",
 etc.
Or
That box has the "project
 I so wanted to
finish"
...hmmmmm---

Sooooooo,

I am thinking that, for me,
a "bit" of clutter
is a moving force for any
creative ideas spring up...
[notice I say "a bit" not
a ton of it!!]

So I have already learned that
about how I
like to work during
this challenge.

It's all good...

  2. My problem with cleaning off my cutting board/table is that the stuff that's piled on there doesn't have a home to readily go to. Don't worry, I'm behind in the challenge too so we can commiserate with each other on that one. At least I got a pile of paper in the recycling bag ready to go out so I feel good about that.
And yes, not wanting to 'mess things up again' IS definitely a thing because I have it too. I want to start a new landscape...but....I'll mess up what small area I've been able to clear. Sigh.

  3. The accidental pairing of fabrics on the table top is so necessary for our creative minds.

  4. Love your Ojos and hand quilted texture. How lovely.

Seems to me the mags would be a better resource just kept in t heir bin, then leafed thru as needed? I mean, this week you might want purple--or orange---or shoes? But next week you might want all pink and yellow, how do you know? The mags are like paints, a resource. But so fun to revisit and look thru. How I wish I had my old old Victorias and early Country Livings to enjoy still.

  5. I loosely followed along with that challenge last year. More than anything, it does help you see how YOU need things to be in your studio and encourages you to take out the trash and focus on what you really want to make/do. Hang in there but don't let it get too literal for your situation.

  6. I know I don't do well in a non cluttered environment! Sometimes it does get out of hand and I need to pick up a bit, but having things out sparks my creativity and reminds me of things I am working on.

  7. Even though my sewing room was remodeled, I still have a fair amount of clutter in there. I think some is okay and may even inspire you! Love your hand stitching. So nice that it's relaxing!

  8. You are such a good example for decluttering, Julierose. I started, stopped, dropped the effort, and now I'm almost back where I started with a great need to begin decluttering again. Or maybe it's just organizing and putting away. I'm not sure.
I could completely identify with your comment about not wanting to mess up a neat and tidy space. If it's too neat, I just walk out of the room and do nothing creative.
If I had to go through the bins of catalogs, magazines, and ad, it would take me a very long time. I would stop to read, then stop too look at the images, then take a few minutes to decide whether to save the image or not. You're probably much more decisive.
    Enjoy!
