I have two more rows to get these
all together...
I am having to pin ALL
the intersections as
(hmm-- strangely enough)
not all Geese are exactly
the same size--
Who knew??
hahaha
I have begun thinking about
the top and the bottom
areas....
Here are the starts to my little
Marsh log cabins they are
taking flight over
↡↡↡↡
The batik I had to cut from
left over scraps--
some I had to cobble together
to make a strip long enough...
and the bird fabric has been
in my stash for a long while;
I really cannot recall
why
I got it--
funny how that happens;
And....
It is perfect for this project ;))
******************************
I am planning on seeing if this
will be the next round
I have been trying out
each fabric round first
to see if I like how it looks--
My centers are this marshy-grassy fabric
Another long-standing resident
in my stash ↧↧↧↧
Thank you Lizzy
for your Marsh suggestion ;))
It sparked all this
whole fabric
pull
(Lizzy blogs at "Gone2thebeach").
****************************
I am using this older book
for my method.
was from this book...
I enjoy her strip method
It involves a lot of cutting
so I am only doing one round
per day on this pile of log cabins...
***************************
We received 8-10" of the "white stuff"
And it drifted a whole lot
in the 35-40mph winds...

The yellow and gold geese blocks are so sunshiny.....and the marsh/grassy fabrics for your next project are a great theme. (Combining them: hunters in the marsh grass in autumn.) What did you use to season this crouton batch?
ReplyDeleteUmmmm - didn't you know that real geese are different sizes? Some are older and bigger and some are young un's. Just saying (hope that makes you feel better!). I'm loving those wonderful fabrics you're planning to use next. Perfect!!
ReplyDeleteStunning! I love what you've done so far. The Geese alone are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'd be tempted to repeat that wonderful marsh grass print in an outer row to show it off.
The croutons look so yummy! How do you season them?
PS WE got about the same amount of snow. It rained as well, so the snow on the ground is so heavy and icy. Mo and I are NOT pleased. The snow is deeper than his little legs are long.
love

I love where you are going with your geese. The marsh is inspired.
ReplyDeleteLots of goosey goosey geese on your wall. The croutons look delicious, bet they smell nice.
ReplyDeleteare your geese going to fly to the south? maybe Mexico where it's warm
ReplyDeleteOh I love your geese, and the marshy fabric is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI have a few marshy=grassy fabrics too in different colorways and it has always been a favorite fabric. I have that log cabin book too.
ReplyDeleteThe marshy log cabins are looking good so far. It sounds like a good idea to take it gently with them!
ReplyDeleteThis will be such a fun quilt, both figurative and literal. I think the colors you've used for the geese are beautiful and I'm looking forward to seeing how you use wheat fabric.
ReplyDeleteYour croutons look delicious.
Love your fabrics
ReplyDeletegreat geese. i love homemade croutons
ReplyDeleteYour geese are looking so elegant with the rusts and golds. I'm so curious to see this all come together. We get geese flying overhead every morning. I think they are flying north to the Great Salt Lake and back each day but it's more likely that they are flying to fields where they can feed and then coming back to Daybreak Lake at sunset. I love listening to them and watching their V's in flight.
ReplyDeleteJulierose I have been missing bog posts for a week for various reasons so Im only now catching up! First of all I'm so pleased to read that your husband has a negative Covid result, still not nice to have a bronchial infection though, hope he's still improving.`
ReplyDeleteNext up your Flying Geese, which I love, beautiful colours used, you must be so happy with them and can't wait to see the borders on the quilt.
