Here are my leftover 1.5" squares
sewn into strip of 5.
I will be putting them together into
blocks of 25
First "5 x 5"--
No rhyme or reason, just pulling
squares and sewing them in twos,
fours and then adding the final 5th...
Just a fun-filled scrappy block...
I wish I had more novelty prints,
but just using up what I have.

The temptation is to put all the
low volume fabrics in one
block and all the darks in another!!
There will be repeats as these squares
were cut from leftover chunky bits..
I love seeing how different the strips
look when blocked together.

ReplyDeleteLooks like your sew-jo is starting to creep around. The 5 x 5 blocks look like a lot of fun. And the free form pineapple blocks are great! There are some lovely fabrics in those.
ReplyDeleteI've seen some great quilts made of 2" squares. I love pineapple blocks. So nice to use up those scraps! I love this weather. I even have some windows open.
ReplyDeleteI remember doing a challenge at our local quilt guild that involved putting a whole bunch of fabric bits into a bag and pulling them out randomly and having to stitch them down without second-guessing. The only time you could put one back was if you pulled two of the exact same. The resulting project was fun.

ReplyDeleteIt's fun to see 25 prints (more or less) all together in one block. A finish at 1" gives just a hint of what the whole fabric may have looked like and such a variety to one 5" block.
