"Falling Stars" flimsy...

I need to let this percolate on my wall for a while...
so I can stare at it and catch glimpses as I
walk by my sewing room...
Thinking about borders...
Or not....
and backing...

really like a bush now
Just loving those ruffled edges
and pale green stem shadows...
soft peachy, roseate petals...

Hoping that this upcoming tropical storm won't decimate them all...
So enjoying gazing at them while sipping my
cuppa Vanilla Chai...
and dipping my "Langues de Chat" cookies
(literally cat's tongue;}}} )
in the tea...

Tom and I did the grocery run during early senior hours this morning...
He drives and waits in the car to help me unload...
(our store only allows one person per family at a time);
and Tom bought gasoline for our generator
just in case that tropical storm turns out
to spawn power outages...
Seems we will be on the windy side now...

I have had to put my hand quilting aside as I have developed a
huge blister on my thimble finger..;000
I had been using the rubber, metal-tipped thimble...
now I don't know if that is a good idea...
Or if using the heavier thread for big stitching
put an extra strain on my fingers....
as it is sometimes really hard to pull it through...
I also have those little sticky pads in my
hand working stash...
I may try those when I can get back to it.

Tonight's supper will be leftover chicken and rice casserole
which reheats beautifully...

I just love your star top. It does look like an autumn sky. Beautiful! I, too, am in the hurricanes path and have brought things inside that could become missiles. Hopefully we won't lose power so I can sew all day tomorrow. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I wouldn’t want your humidity, but it’s hot here too. And your flowers are just gorgeous. My main local grocery store has done away with one-way aisles, which kinda ticks me off. I’ve switch to shopping elsewhere every other week, going back to the main one to get the things I can’t get anywhere else. We, personally, remain just as vigilant as ever. Glad to see you’re switching up your creative activities and staying positive! ((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of getting a blister under your thimble. That's terrible and so inconvenient. Love the bright peachy lily - just so striking. I hope the weather doesn't get bad where you are. We could use some of the rain if there's some to spare. We are on our 3rd or 5th (it all blends together) day of 100+ degree weather. Our humidity is only 10% so I guess it could be worse.

ReplyDeleteYour daylilies provide ongoing delight . . . I think a border that picks up the blues, roses, and golds -- your stash may have a print that has all of that -- would tie everything together.

ReplyDeleteYour fallen stars flimsy is so pretty as is the lily. Isaias was nothing but a tropical storm and, thankfully, not the predicted hurricane they thought we were going to get. We did discover that we have one storm shutter that needs repair...nice to now instead of September.

ReplyDeleteLove your new flimsey! Exciting colors selection and I do understand, I constantly continue hand stitching, hexie making, embroidery or whatever to keep my hands in shape for hand quilting coming up again this fall and winter.
ReplyDeleteYour lilies are beautiful and it looks like Isiais is trucking out of the region. So much better than stalling. Enjoy thinking about your quilt top. The mix of stars, leaf fabric, and dark skies is unique. Always fun to create something different that can take so many interpretations.

ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful flimsy. Love the golden stars and the blue is a perfect match with yellow. When I am piecing, the fabric moves too quickly and it is wrong side up. So it is difficult to enjoy it. I feel that when I am quilting I can actually look at the fabrics and the patchwork better. Stay safe and dry, Julie.
ReplyDeleteHow I hope your beautiful lilies survived the wind and storm, and that you too are okay. Only one person allowed in stores here too although we do see people not abiding by that guideline. Resident Chef waits in the car too but he's not happy about it, especially when he sees other couples going into the store and nothing being done about it.
